CNO Financial Group's IT Team is hiring a Sr. Cloud Infrastructure Architect to independently define and drive cloud architecture strategy and implementation roadmaps to enable secure, scalable, and highly automated cloud environments. This position operates with significant autonomy and authority on complex assignments and leads enterprise initiatives focused on modernizing infrastructure, enforcing governance, and enabling consistent, policy-driven cloud delivery. The role partners across engineering, operations, cybersecurity, and business teams to deliver resilient, cost-effective, and scalable cloud solutions.

  • Collaborate with engineering and application teams to define and review cloud solution architectures, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, scalability requirements, and security policies. Work with 3rd party vendors and the Managed Services team to develop and implement technology-enabled roadmaps.

  • Identify, analyze, and recommend cloud technologies and platform capabilities based on business requirements, scalability needs, and cost considerations.

  • Establish and drive operational excellence practices, including monitoring, alerting, cost optimization, and platform lifecycle management to ensure reliability and performance.

  • Define and implement disaster recovery and resiliency strategies, including multi-region design patterns and high availability architectures.

  • Define and govern cloud financial management practices, including capacity planning, cost allocation, chargeback/showback models, reserved instance strategies, and optimization of cloud consumption.

  • Document all cloud architecture designs, standards, and processes, ensuring maintainability and knowledge transfer across teams.

  • Partner with Security Architecture and Engineering teams to establish secure-by-design cloud patterns, including network segmentation, privileged access management, encryption, vulnerability management, and regulatory compliance controls.

  • Train and mentor engineers and architects on cloud architecture standards, Infrastructure as Code practices, and platform engineering principles.
