Job Description

Position Summary
The Manufacturing Process Engineer will be an integral part of ensuring the facility runs smoothly by developing, configuring, and optimizing processes and procedures. You will work closely with the CAM Programmer, CNC Machinist and Continuous Improvement Manager.  This role is responsible for developing and proving-out machining processes, programming directly at the machine, and training operators on large turning equipment.  The position will support rotating disk, butterfly, and large EPV valve components, requiring strong experience machining large, heavy, and variable cast parts.

Responsibilities:

  • 1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members
  • Develop and prove-out machining processes for rotating disk, butterfly, and large EPV valve components
  • Create and modify CNC programs directly at the machine (G-code or conversational programming)
  • Set up and run large turning equipment (vertical and horizontal lathes)
  • Machine large-diameter cast components, including sealing and critical surfaces
  • Optimize tooling, feeds, speeds, and work holding for variable casting conditions
  • Develop work instructions, setup sheets, and standard processes
  • Train machinists on setup, program edits, and process understanding
  • Support new product introduction and transition to repeatable production
  • Drive improvements in setup reduction, throughput, and process consistency
  • Manage tool vending and Tool Boss database
  • Assist with program management at the machine and file server level
  • Assist with fixture build/modification projects: drawing creation, spreadsheet management, and material purchase
  • Plan, organize and implement procedures and systems to enhance manufacturing efficiency, safety, and quality
  • Create part numbers & bill of materials, consolidating and rationalizing of fasteners
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years machining experience, turning focused, in addition to manual CNC programming.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Passion to design as a creative problem-solver
  • Self-directed, self-motivated
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must embrace safe and environmentally responsible workplace practices
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years' experience in a Mechanical Engineering or other structural or machine design related college curriculum (e.g. aerospace, civil engineering or engineering mechanics) is preferred
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks is a plus
  • Structural analysis (analytical and numerical) capabilities are highly desired
  • Experience machining large valve bodies (butterfly, rotating disk, EPV or similar); experience with large turning equipment (VTL, G&L, Mega Turn or equivalent).
  • Practical knowledge of common hand tools and how to use them

Position Requirements

  • Must be able to ready blueprints and have functioning knowledge of machining fundamentals.
  • Standing, walking, stooping, balancing, kneeling, reaching, and sitting are some of the physical requirements.
  • Must be able to meet and adhere physical requirements as well as adhere to wearing the appropriate PPE (steel toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection and mask).
  • Will be required to work in the following conditions: heat, cold, noise, and vibration.
  • Must be able to work in dust and fumes.
  • May be required to work extended hours depending on customer and company demands.
  • Able to tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
  • Handle numerous projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
  • Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
  • Ability to lift up to 70lbs
