Job description

TekPro is partnering with a leading precision manufacturer in the Downers Grove area to hire a full-time, direct-hire CNC programming professional. You’ll join a stable, well-established team known for producing high-quality, complex aerospace and defense components.

A day in your role

You start by reviewing aerospace-grade blueprints and CAD models, translating GD&T into clear, efficient toolpaths. Before lunch, you refine a milling strategy to cut cycle time, then head to the floor to validate a turning program and collaborate with a machinist on tooling choices. In the afternoon, you tune speeds/feeds, troubleshoot a surface finish issue on a VMC, and update a CAM post to standardize programming across similar parts. You wrap up by documenting improvements and syncing with engineering and production on tomorrow’s priorities.

What you will do
  • Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs for milling and turning operations
  • Interpret blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T to generate accurate toolpaths
  • Select tooling, set speeds/feeds, and define machining strategies for efficiency and quality
  • Partner with machinists, engineers, and production to improve processes and standardize methods
  • Troubleshoot on the shop floor to resolve programming and machining issues
  • Drive continuous improvement with a focus on reducing cycle times and improving throughput
