Job description

Manufacturing Engineer – CNC Process & Programming
Location: Broadview, IL
Schedule: Flexible hours within shop operations of 5:30 AM–5:30 PM
Pay: $110,000 - $120,000

Company and Benefits
Our client is a family-owned, ISO 9001-certified precision manufacturer with approximately 70 employees and an average tenure of 18 years. The company offers a family-oriented culture, long-term stability, and flexibility when personal situations arise.
  • Generous 401(k) match
  • Two to three weeks of PTO to start, depending on experience
  • Flexible working hours
  • Stable, long-tenured workforce
Position Summary
This is a hands-on manufacturing engineering role focused on CNC programming and process development, with approximately 70% of the position dedicated to programming. The engineer will own the process from initial programming through machine prove-out and production release, ensuring programs, tooling, setup instructions, and documentation are accurate before reaching the shop floor. This is not a desk-only position; the individual must be comfortable test-running parts, validating processes, and resolving issues before production begins.

Responsibilities
  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using CAM software.
  • Program CNC mills, lathes, mill-turn, Swiss, and multi-axis equipment.
  • Perform machine setups, program prove-outs, and part test runs.
  • Translate blueprints, 3D models, and GD&T into machining programs.
  • Select tooling, fixtures, speeds, feeds, and cutting strategies.
  • Develop processes from engineering drawings through production release.
  • Create setup sheets, work instructions, tooling lists, operation sequences, and inspection criteria.
  • Troubleshoot programming, tooling, fixturing, and production issues.
  • Improve cycle times, quality, tooling costs, scrap, and setup time.
  • Provide Design for Manufacturability recommendations.
  • Support prototypes, new-product introductions, production ramps, and high-volume manufacturing.
  • Work with operators, Quality, Tooling, Engineering, and Production.
  • Train operators and junior programmers on machining and programming best practices.
Qualifications
  • 3-5yrs Minimum Hands-on CNC programming experience with mills, lathes, mill-turn, Swiss, or multi-axis equipment.
  • Experience with CAM programming software; ESPRIT is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to set up equipment, prove out programs, and test-run parts.
  • Strong blueprint, technical drawing, and GD&T interpretation skills.
  • Knowledge of tooling, workholding, fixtures, speeds, feeds, and machining processes.
  • Experience in a production machining environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work directly with machines and production personnel.
  • Associate degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Lean, SPC, FMEA, inspection equipment, or ISO 9001 experience preferred.
Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or genetic information.
