Job description

Kamatics is seeking a CNC Programmer to support Manufacturing Operations by developing, maintaining, and optimizing CNC programs for precision aerospace and industrial components. This role is responsible for creating efficient machining programs using established programming standards, selecting tooling and cutting parameters, and ensuring processes are optimized for quality, repeatability, and productivity. The CNC Programmer will work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to support new and existing product lines while driving continuous improvement across machining operations.

  • Interpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications to develop CNC programs for lathes, mills, and multi-axis machines using proper machining methods, tooling, cutting speeds, and feeds.
  • Create and maintain setup sheets, tooling lists, and process documentation to support production.
  • Monitor and verify the accuracy of initial machine setups and first-piece inspections to ensure conformance to production requirements.
  • Revise and maintain programs and documentation based on engineering changes, process improvements, or quality requirements.
  • Maintain an organized library of CNC programs and related documentation while ensuring programming standards are consistently followed.
  • Analyze part prints, specifications, and process requirements to determine optimal machining sequences, setups, and tooling strategies to maximize efficiency.
  • Assist in troubleshooting machining issues, improving cycle times, reducing costs, and supporting corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production Control, Quality, and shop personnel to resolve machining and quality-related issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean manufacturing and 5S activities.
  • Maintain compliance with ISO quality standards, company policies, and safety/environmental regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Provide support and training to operators or other team members as needed.
  • Perform other related duties and cross-functional support activities as assigned.
QualificationsEducation
  • Associate degree in Machining Technology or related technical field preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience
  • 3โ€“5 years of CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience programming CNC lathes, mills, and multi-axis machines.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software and solid modeling required.
  • Aerospace, defense, or precision machining experience strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming principles, machining processes, tooling, and fixturing.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software and solid model interpretation.
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
  • Solid mathematical skills including trigonometry, geometry, and algebra.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and inspection processes.
  • Knowledge of ISO quality procedures and manufacturing documentation standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and focus on quality.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability, and customer-focused mindset.
