Job Description

This role focuses on setting up, programming, and operating Citizen L20, M32, and K16 CNC Swiss lathes to produce high-precision machined parts. You will manage the full machining process from program creation through in-process inspection, ensuring quality, efficiency, and reliability in a clean, modern medical manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Citizen L20, M32, and K16 CNC Swiss lathes to produce precision machined parts.
  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs for new and existing parts using ESPRIT software.
  • Work from a variety of detailed blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining requirements.
  • Handle the complete machining process, including machine setup, tooling changes, program editing, program loading, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain high quality standards through thorough in-process inspection of parts and continuous monitoring of machining processes.
  • Monitor and document operational and performance issues and provide clear feedback to the supervisor.
  • Apply GD&T principles to ensure parts meet dimensional and tolerance specifications.
  • Use Fanuc controls and G-code to adjust and refine programs directly at the machine as needed.
  • Mentor and train lower-level machinists, supporting their development in setup, operation, and basic programming.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve processes, reduce scrap, and enhance overall productivity.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5 years of CNC programming experience, preferably on Swiss turning centers.
  • Proficiency in ESPRIT software for CNC programming and optimization.
  • Strong G-code fluency with the ability to edit and refine programs at the machine.
  • High-level blueprint reading skills, including interpretation of complex drawings and tolerances.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC Swiss machining and turning center operations.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Experience with Fanuc controls and related CNC interfaces.
  • Proficiency with measuring tools for in-process inspection and verification of part dimensions.
  • Solid understanding of shop mathematics for calculations related to machining and programming.
  • Ability to perform accurate setups, tooling changes, and machine adjustments in a production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in tool and die or precision machining environments.
  • Experience working with machined parts for medical or similarly high-precision industries.
  • Familiarity with numerical control concepts and best practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining and programming issues efficiently and systematically.
  • Experience mentoring or training junior machinists or apprentices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining tight tolerances and quality standards.
  • Effective communication skills for documenting issues and providing feedback to supervisors and team members.
