Machinist / CNC Operator
JOB DESCRIPTION
REPORTS TO: Tooling Shop Manager
DIRECT REPORTS: N/A
FLSA STATUS: Hourly Non-Exempt
ROLE: Responsible for making tooling parts and revisions through the programming, setup, and operation of various CNC machinery, assisting in manual machining, assisting in tooling repairs, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and working with minimal supervision.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Programming vertical CNC mills with Mastercam
  • Programming CNC lathes with Mazatrol
  • Setup and operate CNC mills
  • Setup and operate CNC lathes
  • Assist with trim tool repairs
  • Assist with mold base repairs
  • Assist with plug base repairs
  • Machining with various manual machinery
  • Produce accurate tooling service and machining records
  • Daily housekeeping
  • Deep cleaning for various audits and/or visits
  • Assisting in machinery maintenance

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Interpersonal/Communication:
  • Demonstrate ability to participate in departmental and interdepartmental communication and teamwork

  • Demonstrate ability to operate manual and automatic surface grinders
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate manual mills and lathes
  • Demonstrate ability to operate overhead bridge cranes and jib cranes
  • Demonstrate ability to operate various hand tools and magnetic base drills
  • Demonstrate ability to operate hydraulic press and arbor press
  • Demonstrate ability to assist with the tear down, repair, and reassemble various form tools and trim tools to specs.
  • Demonstrate ability to assist in determining root causes of tooling issues
  • Demonstrate the ability to create 3D wireframe CNC programs with Mastercam
  • Demonstrate ability to create CNC turning programs with Mazatrol
  • Demonstrate ability to set up and operate CNC mills
  • Demonstrate ability to set up and operate CNC lathes

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of related work experience
  • Any mechanical aptitude training or machining education is a plus
  • Any CNC operation or programming training or education is a plus
  • Will be trained and certified for fork truck operation
