Summary

CNC Operator is responsible for work duties related to the operation of PD CNC Machines. Efficiently moving Engineering Models through CNC machine-based programing to output workable parts for the Development team.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Follow blueprints, work orders, or other instructions to determine product specifications or material requirements
  • Communicate clearly with Solid Shop Supervisor on daily output expectations
  • Ensure equipment maintenance schedule is being followed
  • Complete general equipment maintenance between each use
  • Safely operate machinery to ensure no harm is done to employee or machine
  • Ensure all safety procedures are followed
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace
  • Report all incidents relating to safety with the Alpha Shop Supervisor
  • Attend required meetings and trainings
  • Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates
  • Fosters a culture that values family, innovation, collaboration, and empowerment
  • Follows all safety and workplace policies

Competencies and Skills

  • Operating knowledge of department processing equipment and processes
  • Experience working with multiple material types (Wood, Metal, Plastic, Adhesives, Wiring, etc.)
  • Expert level proficiency with reading Mechanical Drawings
  • Expert level proficiency with Drawing Software (SolidWorks, Mastercam, etc.)
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate and apply PD’s workplace values
  • Flexibility to travel between multiple PD locations

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Walking, sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 50 lbs. may be required throughout the workday
  • Must be able to climb stairs and stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time
  • Must be willing to work OT based on project needs
