We are looking to fill multiple CNC Operator positions on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift. Below are the preferred skills, duties, and responsibilities you will have performing as our CNC Operators.


POSITION SUMMARY:

 The function of the CNC Operator is to perform advanced setup operations, adjust and check out programming, and operate CNC Mill and Lathe tools to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring a high degree of skill. 


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Availability to work (7am-3:15pm) 1st shift, (3pm-11:15pm) 2nd shift, and (11pm-7:15am) 3rd shift.
  • Training occurs on 1st shift for up to 90 days if you are on an off shift.
  • Required: High School/GED diploma or vocational school equivalent.
  • Required: 5+ years of machining experience with formal training or certification from an accredited trade school.
  • Required: Computer literacy specific to operating CNC machines.
  • Required: Experience with machining techniques and methods of CNC Mill and Lathes as well as tool operating procedures and blueprint reading.
  • Required: A broad knowledge of machining techniques and familiarity with Mazak, Mori Seiki, Brother, Okuma, Tsugami, G-codes, M-codes, lathes, and mills.
  • Basic hand tool knowledge.
  • Must have the ability to accurately use measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and height stands.
  • Must be able to work from programming instructions and operations data and machine setup instructions defining and coding tool arrangements.
  • Familiar with machine calibrations and console settings to perform operations.
  • Setups involve familiarity with and understanding of program formats involving combinations of operations such as profiling, drilling, boring, contour milling, turning, facing, threading, and recessing to the capacity of the machine and control factor.
  • Must have experience with tolerances (+/-.003) and ability to make exact tolerances.
  • Ability to check parts for conformance to specifications.
  • Must be able to understand and properly use fixtures and tooling.
  • Possess strong attention to detail and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must follow written instructions and read blueprint specifications set forth by LMT.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
  • Operate CNC Machine centers to produce machined parts.
  • Operate more than one unit simultaneously.
  • Perform all operations to set-up equipment and fixtures in the machining center for other operators working from drawings and specification sheet.
  • Diagnose problems and make adjustments.
  • Responsible for the proper selection of tooling, set-up and adjustment, and for manually programming short runs/special jobs.
  • Maintain quality and safety standards. Perform self-inspection of parts to ensure specs.
  • Adhere to quality assurance standards.
  • Keep accurate records by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Sustain repairs and maintenance of the machines as well as other equipment and call for repairs and supplies.
  • Follow manufacturer's instructions, troubleshoot malfunctions, and update job knowledge by voluntarily participating in educational opportunities.
  • Keep workstation and equipment clean.
  • Instruct operators on procedures and methods and make periodic operation checks to assure proper machining operations.
