Job description

Busch Vacuum Solutions is a leading manufacturer of vacuum pumps, compressors, and blowers for use in industries such as semiconductor manufacturing, food processing, metallurgy, biomedical, and material handling.
We have an exciting direct hire opportunity for an experienced CNC Machine Operator II at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Virginia Beach, Virginia!
The CNC Machine Operator II is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC grinding and machining equipment to manufacture precision components that meet exact specifications and quality standards. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience working with tight tolerances and precision measuring equipment.
This is a 2nd shift position, Monday-Friday, 7:00 PM - 3:30 AM.
Employees will train on 1st Shift, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, for approximately 90 days or until leadership determines they are ready to transition to 2nd shift based on business needs and training progress.
Targeted Compensation: The targeted compensation range for this position is $22.00-$25.00 per hour, plus an applicable shift differential, depending on the selected candidate's qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.

Job Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC grinding and machining equipment according to work instructions and production requirements.
  • Inspect parts visually and dimensionally before, during, and after machining operations.
  • Make minor program adjustments and machine offsets as needed to maintain product quality.
  • Set up and utilize gauge heads and inspection equipment for high-tolerance sizing applications.
  • Adjust machine settings to ensure accuracy and repeatability.
  • Dress grinding wheels and replace diamonds when required.
  • Deburr completed components and prepare parts for the next manufacturing process.
  • Work to extremely close tolerances using digital micrometers, dial indicators, Vernier calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance and basic machine upkeep.
  • Interpret process sheets, work instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and other duties as assigned.

Required Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience operating CNC machining equipment in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience setting up CNC machines and making minor program adjustments required.
  • Experience working with precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and dial indicators required.
  • Experience with pneumatic and manual hand tools required.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel) required.
  • Ability to work with micron-level tolerances preferred.
  • Manufacturing, machining, or grinding experience strongly preferred.

Job Requirements
  • Ability and willingness to pass a 10-panel drug screen and 7-year criminal history check.
    • Most felonies are a disqualifier, misdemeanors are considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Must be willing and able to utilize all required PPE.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 5%) domestically for training purposes
  • Ability to work off-hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Employment with Busch Vacuum Solutions requires current work authorization in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, grasping, and manual manipulation throughout the shift.
  • Frequent use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to work around moving machinery and manufacturing equipment.
  • Must be able to see and hear visual and audible alarms and wear all required PPE.
