Job description

Who we are:

The Gill Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of honeycomb, high performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners and original equipment for passenger and freighter aircraft. The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products.

The Gill Corporation is seeking a CNC Operator who can set up and operate numerical control machines to machine honeycomb panels to specifications by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews setup sheets and specifications to determine setup procedure, machining sequence, and dimensions of finished work piece.
  • Using machine controls, operator retrieves programs.
  • Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine.
  • Changes cutting tools & location of work piece during machining process per setup instructions.
  • Measures work piece for conformance to specifications.
  • Notifies supervisor of discrepancies.
  • Machines materials such as honeycomb panels and honeycomb core.
  • Check cutter size and wear. Also add edits to accommodate actual cutter diameter to prevent parts not meeting tolerances.
  • Is not permitted to alter programs without supervisor or programmerโ€™s sign-off/approval.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
  • Must be able to lift, push & pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to reach, grab, pull, and work with hands.
  • Understand drawings, ASME Y14.5 geometric tolerances
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Understand CNC machine program M codes and G codes
  • Ability to satisfactorily use computer based software tools
  • CNC machining experience (Honeycomb panels is a plus)
  • Previous experience of operating Thermwood Router machine/control is a plus.ย 
  • Minimum 1 years of CNC operating experience
  • Must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalency
  • Must have English reading and verbal communication skills sufficient to read, understand and communicate the company operating procedures and policies.
  • Must be able to lift, push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to demonstrate math proficiency equal to or greater than required for the position applied.
  • Must be available to work the shift specified by the position and be flexible to potential overtime on weekends/ holidays.
