Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Kitchener has an exciting opportunity for a CNC Operator. This position is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of CNC Machines. The Machine operator installs raw material into the machines, and loads programs to produce quality parts on schedule within company guidelines. This is a new position with a wage range of $28.72/hr to $34.75/hr based on experience, the role will be on rotating shifts: morning, afternoon and nights.

Essential Responsibilities

Reporting to the Production Supervisor the Machine Operator's major activities and responsibilities include the following.

  • Load a variety of raw material and programs into the CNC machines
  • Ensure proper tooling for part and program are present in the CNC machine
  • Read blueprints, sketches, designs, operation sheets, and drawings
  • Start and monitor machine throughout machining cycle
  • Perform intervention as required to keep machine operating per production planning
  • Checking of product dimensions periodically throughout machining process
  • Communicate knowledge across shifts of machining information

Position Requirements

  • 1-3 years' experience as a CNC operator
  • Experience running/maintaining/troubleshooting CNC Machines
  • High attention to detail, strong mathematical aptitude
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English, with the ability to accept and follow both verbal and written instructions
  • Physical fitness and dexterity to perform lifting, positioning and moving of parts
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety policy and practices
  • Computer literacy is also required to use our internal production system (training provided)
  • Aerospace industry experience considered an asset

The physical requirements of this job are average. The daily routine will entail standing/sitting at the deburring station, moving parts to and from the department.
