Job description

Position Description:
The CNC Laser Operator supports the mission of Anchor Fabrication Kansas by producing parts that meet the specification and quality standards of the customer.
Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Sets up CNC Laser Machine for the purpose of cutting, material by following specifications placed on a work order, blueprint or drawing.
  • Adjusts machine as needed for variances during run. Tests and adjusts machine speeds or actions, according to product specifications, using gauges, hand tools or machine controls
  • Tasks include using hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Reads and understands work orders, blueprints, or drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances, set up procedure, machine sequence, and dimensions of finished product by prioritizing steps and collecting material.
  • Operates laser by manipulating controls and entering commands to index laser head to specified set point and to start machine, and change location of product during machine process as specified in set up instructions.
  • Measures, marks, and verifies dimensions on parts and materials before and after processing parts.
  • Assist in loading and unloading machines when production requires.
  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions.
  • Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance and adjusts machine within capabilities. Reports all machine malfunctions to Management.
  • Maintains equipment and ensures work area is always clean and safe.
  • Performs basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Assists in other tasks as assigned by supervisor to address unexpected situations or needs that may arise.

Qualifications:
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and product specifications.
  • The ability and maturity to perform in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
  • The ability to operate hand tools.
  • Work in such a way as to create limited scrap or rework and work to continually improve quality level.
  • Keep work area clean.
  • Be able to provide all the proper tools and equipment as specified to fulfill basic job requirements.

Education and Work Experience Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, required.
  • Basic math skills with ability to read tape measure, required.
  • Prior CNC Operator experience, preferred.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
  • Frequent standing, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, and twisting, required.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds independently.
  • Exposure to shop environment.

Other:
  • Working more than 40 hours per week may be required to complete company deliverables.
