CNC Machinist - Mill | Weekend ShiftLocation: Dover, NHDepartment: ManufacturingSchedule: Friday through Sunday, 8:00 PM - 8:00 AMShift: Weekend OvernightAbout QQ is an innovative designer and manufacturer in the firearms industry, focused on developing and manufacturing high-performance products through engineering, precision machining, and a relentless commitment to quality and innovation.Position SummaryQ is seeking an experienced CNC Mill Machinist to join our Weekend Overnight manufacturing team.This position requires a machinist who can work independently and has experience with the complete setup and operation of CNC vertical mills. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with 3-axis vertical milling, Doosan CNC equipment, probing systems, machine setup, tooling, offsets, and precision inspection.This is not an entry-level CNC operator position. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of CNC mill setup and operation experience and be capable of independently setting up, operating, and troubleshooting equipment in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment.Core Machining ResponsibilitiesIndependently set up and operate 3-axis CNC vertical milling machines.Perform complete machine setups, including fixtures, workholding, tooling, tool offsets, and work offsets.Set up and operate Doosan CNC mills or comparable vertical machining centers.Utilize CNC probing systems for part setup, work offsets, tool setting, and in-process verification.Select appropriate tooling and make necessary tool and offset adjustments during production.Monitor machining operations and independently troubleshoot tooling, setup, and machining issues.Maintain production requirements while consistently meeting dimensional and quality specifications.Quality & InspectionRead and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, specifications, and work instructions.Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.Verify finished components meet required tolerances and specifications.Identify quality issues and make appropriate machining or process adjustments.Maintain required production and quality documentation.Safety & Continuous ImprovementFollow all Q safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean and organized work area.Communicate tooling, equipment, quality, and manufacturing issues to appropriate team members.Support continuous improvement efforts related to machining efficiency, quality, setup reduction, tooling, and process improvement.Maintain Q's production and quality expectations while working independently with limited supervision.Required QualificationsMinimum of two years of hands-on CNC mill setup and operation experience required.Demonstrated ability to independently perform CNC mill setups and operations.Hands-on experience operating 3-axis vertical CNC mills required.Ability to independently perform machine setup, tooling setup, work offsets, and tool offsets.Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, workholding, and material removal.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.Experience using precision inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools.Ability to independently troubleshoot machining and setup issues.Experience working in a precision manufacturing environment required.Must be able to reliably work the established Friday through Sunday overnight schedule.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Doosan CNC vertical mills.Hands-on experience with CNC probing systems and probe setup.Experience machining high-precision, tight-tolerance components.Firearms manufacturing experience strongly preferred.Defense, aerospace, automotive, or other high-tolerance manufacturing experience.Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.Weekend Overnight ShiftFriday through Sunday8:00 PM - 8:00 AMEmployees assigned to the Weekend Overnight Shift are eligible for a shift differential in addition to their base hourly rate.Due to the nature of the weekend overnight schedule, machinists must be comfortable working independently with limited supervision and have the experience necessary to perform setups, operate equipment, troubleshoot machining issues, and maintain Q's production and quality standards.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods.Ability to lift and move materials, tooling, and components as required by the position.Ability to safely work around CNC machinery, tooling, coolants, and manufacturing equipment.Ability to perform repetitive manufacturing and inspection tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
