Edson Pumps/Jacob E. Marine (formerly Edson Marine), a member of the Potentia Manufacturing Group, specializes in manufacturing diaphram and Peristaltic Pumps for marine pump out and endless industrial applications as well as sailboat steering systems and components.

We are seeking a CNC Machinist who enjoys the challenge of producing a wide vareity of machined components and assemblies and takes pride in quality workmanship. This role offers the opportunity to work with modern equipment (as well as old-school machinery), solve real manufacturing challenges, and contribute to a team where craftsmanship, collaboration, and continuous improvement are valued.

For qualified candidates, a Lead opportunity is available with additional responsibility for programming, troubleshooting, scheduling, and process improvement.

Position Summary

The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating CNC turning, milling, or manuual equipment to produce precision machined components that meet customer specifications and quality requirements. This role includes machine operation, in-process inspection, documentation, and maintaining order in the department.

The Lead Machinist will also support department scheduling, programming, troubleshooting, process improvements, and first-piece inspections.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC turning, milling, and manual equipment.
  • Machine components to blueprint and customer specifications.
  • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Deburr and finish machined components to required specifications.
  • Identify, segregate, and report nonconforming material.
  • Complete job travelers, inspection records, and production documentation accurately.
  • Communicate quality concerns, damaged material, or process issues promptly.
  • Assist with assembly, packaging and shipment of finished products as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, and customer requirements.
Lead Responsibilities
  • Coordinate workflow and scheduling within the turning or milling department.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and process issues.
  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs.
  • Support first-piece inspections and process validation activities.
  • Share knowledge, support problem solving, and help develop machining capabilities across the department.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and throughput.
Qualifications
  • CNC and manual machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, indicators, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Previous setup, programming, troubleshooting, or leadership experience.
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical, vocational, or trade school training preferred.
Reporting Relationship
  • Reports to the General Manager
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move machined components and materials.
  • Manual dexterity required for machine operation and inspection activities.
Work Environment
  • Clean and organized manufacturing facility.
  • Hearing protection required in designated areas.
  • Eye protection required during designated operations.
Overtime

Occasional overtime based on production schedules and business needs.
