Why This Role Exists

This role exists because Freeform is scaling production of complex, high-precision metal parts.

Freeform’s autonomous metal 3D printing systems rely on world-class 5-axis CNC machining to deliver production-ready parts to aerospace, defense, and industrial customers. As output increases, the company needs experienced machinists who can set up, run, and optimize multi-axis CNC equipment in a fast-moving production environment.

As a CNC Machinist (5-Axis), you’ll be critical to ensuring precision, repeatability, and throughput across demanding programs.

---

The Work You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

  • Set up and operate 5-axis DMG Mori and Haas CNC machines
  • Run complex precision parts from blueprints, drawings, and schematics
  • Hold tight tolerances (typically ±0.001" and tighter, depending on part)
  • Perform on-machine and manual deburring and finishing
  • Inspect parts using on-machine probing, micrometers, indicators, and thread gauges
  • Manage routine machine maintenance and cutting-fluid systems
  • Support process-improvement initiatives focused on throughput and efficiency
  • Collaborate with programmers and engineers to refine machining strategies

This is a hands-on machining role, not an operator-only position.

---

You’ll work with equipment such as:

Machines:

  • DMG Mori 5-Axis CNC Machining Centers
  • Haas Multi-Axis CNC Mills

Controls:

  • Siemens

Inspection Tools:

  • On-machine probing
  • Micrometers, indicators, thread gauges
  • CMMs (as applicable)

---

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of CNC machine setup and operation experience
  • Hands-on experience with 5-axis CNC machining
  • Proven ability machining aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, or Inconel
  • Strong blueprint reading and tolerance control skills
  • Solid understanding of tooling, offsets, and workholding

Preferred (Not Required):

  • Experience with DMG Mori machines
  • Familiarity with Siemens controls
  • CNC programming and fixture design experience
  • Experience machining metal 3D printed parts
  • NTMA machinist certification or equivalent training
  • Proficiency with CMMs and advanced inspection
  • Comfortable operating shop equipment (cranes, forklifts, etc.)

---

  • Aluminum
  • Stainless Steel
  • Titanium
  • Inconel & nickel-based alloys

  • Competitive hourly pay plus equity ownership
  • Clean, organized, state-of-the-art facility
  • Free meals, flexibility, and a strong learning culture

This is a shop built for machinists who care about precision and progress.

---
