Job description

The Geoprobe® CNC Machinist works with a team to produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine while placing a high priority on maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies. Successful candidates will be team players, mechanical with strong hands-on skills, committed to high-quality work, comfortable working with blueprints, strong in math, and team oriented.

Job Responsibilities
  • Plans and executes machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, machining parameters and tolerances
  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry
  • Sets-up mills and lathes
  • Loads material feeders by lifting stock into position
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards
  • Maintains specifications, adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes
  • Maintains safe operations. adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Maintains equipment, completing preventive maintenance requirements
  • Documents actions, completing production and quality logs
  • Accepts ownership for accomplishing new and different requests
Training
  • On the floor training

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset
  • Machining & CNC programming experience required; ability to read and write Gcode, CAM experience will be an asset
  • Experience using precision measurement tools
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
  • Good at math with analytical abilities
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items
  • Hands-on with strong mechanical abilities
  • Possess manual dexterity and an eye for detail
  • Strong communication skills -relates well to all kinds of people
  • Learns quickly when facing new problems, open to change, quickly grasps issues to solve
  • Perseveres especially in the face of resistance or setbacks
