Job Description

This role is ideal for a skilled CNC Machinist who enjoys working on complex, precision parts. You will set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines to fabricate high‑quality components, using your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint reading, and precision measurement to support production within demanding industries such as aerospace, aviation, defense, and medical devices.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines to perform machining operations including turning, milling, drilling, and grinding.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine required machining operations and tolerances.
  • Select appropriate tools, machines, fixtures, and materials to complete each job efficiently and accurately.
  • Monitor machine operations during production to ensure dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and overall quality of parts produced.
  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines to keep equipment in optimal working condition and minimize downtime.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements.
  • Apply knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to improve workflow, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
  • Use CAD software to create or modify part programs or machining layouts as needed to support production.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to tooling, setups, and machining strategies.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and teammates regarding job status, quality concerns, and machine issues.
  • Support training and knowledge sharing with colleagues, especially in advanced machining and programming techniques as skills grow.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC machines for turning, milling, drilling, and grinding operations.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify part quality.
  • 3- to 4-axis CNC machining experience (3–4-axis experience is a must).
  • Familiarity with a variety of hand tools commonly used in machining processes.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices and their application on the shop floor.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for creating or modifying machining programs or layouts.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail in a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with engineers and other machinists.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 5-axis CNC machining experience is a plus; training is available for motivated candidates.
  • Experience with Mastercam or Surfcam (minimum of 5 years is preferred).
  • Experience working with CMM equipment for inspection and quality verification.
  • Past in machining complex parts for industries such as aerospace, aviation, defense, or medical devices is beneficial.
  • Interest in learning CNC programming and advancing into programming, supervisory, or management roles over time.
  • Comfort working in a multi-department shop environment with milling, lathe, and other machining areas.

Why Work Here?

You will join a clean, well-maintained shop that focuses on complex, high-precision work for cutting-edge industries, offering a strong foundation for professional growth.
