CNC Machinist
Leonardo’s Marble & Granite is looking for a skilled and dependable CNC Machinist to join our fabrication team. The CNC Machinist will operate and maintain CNC machinery used to cut, shape, polish, and finish marble, granite, quartz, porcelain, and other stone materials.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication environment. This position requires the ability to read measurements and drawings, operate CNC equipment safely, perform quality checks, and ensure finished pieces meet project specifications.
Responsibilities
CNC Machine Operation
    ●    Operate CNC machinery and equipment used in the fabrication of natural and engineered stone.
    ●    Load and secure stone slabs properly before machining.
    ●    Set up machines, tools, programs, and workpieces according to job specifications.
    ●    Run CNC programs accurately and monitor machines throughout the production process.
    ●    Make adjustments to machine settings as needed to maintain quality and accuracy.
    ●    Perform cutting, drilling, edging, polishing, sink cutouts, cooktop cutouts, and other CNC operations.
    ●    Inspect completed pieces to ensure dimensions, edges, cutouts, and finishes meet specifications.
    ●    Work closely with the fabrication and installation teams to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
Programming & Measurements
    ●    Read and interpret shop drawings, measurements, templates, and job specifications.
    ●    Review CNC files and programs before production.
    ●    Make basic program or machine adjustments when necessary.
    ●    Verify dimensions and specifications before machining.
    ●    Identify discrepancies or potential issues before material is cut.
    ●    Communicate any concerns regarding measurements, drawings, materials, or programs to management.
Quality Control
    ●    Perform quality checks throughout the fabrication process.
    ●    Ensure finished products meet company standards for accuracy, appearance, and workmanship.
    ●    Inspect edges, seams, cutouts, dimensions, and polished surfaces.
    ●    Report damaged, defective, or incorrect materials immediately.
    ●    Minimize material waste by carefully planning and executing CNC operations.
Equipment Maintenance & Safety
    ●    Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of CNC equipment and surrounding work areas.
    ●    Monitor equipment for unusual sounds, performance issues, or mechanical problems.
    ●    Report equipment problems and maintenance needs to management.
    ●    Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.
    ●    Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
    ●    Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fabrication area.
    ●    Follow proper procedures when handling stone slabs, tools, and machinery.
Requirements
    ●    High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    ●    Previous CNC machining experience is preferred; experience in stone fabrication is a strong plus.
    ●    Experience operating CNC machinery in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
    ●    Ability to read and understand measurements, drawings, and specifications.
    ●    Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
    ●    Basic computer skills and ability to learn CNC software and equipment.
    ●    Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic machine issues.
    ●    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    ●    Strong communication and organizational skills.
    ●    Must be able to work in a fast-paced production environment.
    ●    Must be able to stand for extended periods.
    ●    Must be able to bend, reach, pull, push, lift, and carry materials and equipment as required.
    ●    Must be comfortable working around water, stone dust, noise, and industrial equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
    ●    Experience operating CNC machines used for stone fabrication.
    ●    Experience with CNC programming or editing.
    ●    Experience with CAD/CAM software.
    ●    Knowledge of marble, granite, quartz, quartzite, porcelain, and other stone materials.
    ●    Experience with sink and cooktop cutouts, edge profiles, drilling, and polishing.
    ●    Experience reading countertop shop drawings.
    ●    Experience with CNC routers, bridge saws, waterjets, or other stone fabrication equipment.
    ●    Previous experience in countertop, stone, cabinetry, construction, or manufacturing industries.
