Job description

Job Title: Machine Operator – CNC Laser
Job Description

This role focuses on setting up and operating a CNC laser machine for metal fabrication, ensuring high-quality, defect-free parts. You will work with advanced laser equipment, interpret blueprints, perform routine maintenance, and accurately document production results within a modern manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate a CNC laser machine for metal fabrication in accordance with production requirements.
  • Retrieve and load CNC laser programs, selecting and configuring proper gases, nozzles, lenses, and related components for each job.
  • Apply knowledge of metal fabrication processes and concepts to ensure parts meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on the CNC laser machine to maintain optimal performance.
  • Set up metal fabrication machinery and other production equipment to consistently produce zero-defect parts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine part dimensions, tolerances, and process requirements.
  • Check the accuracy and quality of finished parts using precision measuring tools and direct-read measuring devices.
  • Accurately complete work orders, including recording correct quantities of good and defective parts.
  • Properly document all required production and quality paperwork in a clear and timely manner.
  • Collaborate with team members in manufacturing and fabrication to support efficient production flow.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to set up and operate a CNC laser machine for metal fabrication.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with CNC laser operation, including program retrieval and configuration of gases, nozzles, and lenses.
  • Understanding of metal fabrication processes and concepts.
  • Ability to use direct-read measuring devices and precision measuring tools to verify part accuracy.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Ability to accurately complete and document production and quality paperwork.
  • At least 6 months of experience in metal manufacturing or a closely related environment.
  • Machine operation experience, including laser machine operation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in manufacturing engineering, fabrication management, or operations of low- and mid-volume metal fabrication is preferred.
  • Experience operating laser machinery and other fabrication equipment.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance and minor repair of CNC laser equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing zero-defect parts.
  • Comfort working with both hands-on manufacturing tasks and supporting documentation.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
