Full Job Description:
 
Our client is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Designer to provide professional design services for industrial laser machines. 
The Electrical Engineer will play a key role in the design, development, and support of complex multi-axis CNC laser systems. Responsibilities will include creating electrical layouts and design specifications, selecting appropriate components, and applying engineering analysis to ensure optimal performance. The role also involves hands-on tasks such as wiring, cable routing, and troubleshooting electrical systems.
This position requires close collaboration with mechanical engineers during system design and with software engineers during system integration and debugging. The engineer will contribute to all phases of the project, including design, fabrication, testing, and ongoing electrical/electronic support.
 
 
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the complete electrical design and manufacturing of complex multi-axis CNC laser systems equipment, including subassemblies, and individual components.
  • Collaborate directly with team to understand and develop system's electrical and electronic requirements, communicate status, and identify and resolve issues related to a variety of systems' electrical problems. 
  • Develop digital and analog signal design and control, cable harness layout, and hardware safety interlock design. 
  • Responsible for specifying and selecting components for the design of electrical control of motion, temperature, and signals. 
  • Specify and design or modify electrical/electronic engineering assemblies, layouts/schematics, and/or detailed drawings/specifications as required by system. 
  • Prepare documentation for release such as schematic diagrams, test procedures, theory of operation, BOM, instruction manuals and related information. 

 
Qualifications
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or EEET required. 
  • A minimum of 3 years of electrical engineering experience in designing complex multi axes CNC laser systems including schematics and panel layouts.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical
  • Knowledge of power design standards and troubleshooting for component level and system engineering 
  • Experience in control system design, prototyping, troubleshooting electronics, AC/DC sub-system power distribution, grounding power electronics and control, and digital circuitry, robotics, delivery systems; motor controls, linear and rotational motion controls. 
  • Knowledge of computer-based control systems, PLC based systems, Ethernet, Modbus, and serial communication protocols. 
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and software engineering disciplines 
  • Knowledge of electrical safety requirements and codes
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team.  
  • Good organizational, communication, and prioritization skills 
  • Must be hands-on with devices and troubleshooting.
  • US citizenship is required.
  • Travel could be required - 25% or less - some international

Valued But Not Required Skills:
  • Experience with laser systems or lasers (Fiber, Picosecond, Femtosecond, etc.)
  • Programming experience in C, C#, G-Code
  • Knowledge in PID control
