Position Overview

The Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Programmer is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs for milling and machining operations to support production, quality, and safety objectives. This role is critical to ensuring manufacturing processes are efficient, repeatable, and capable of producing precision components that meet engineering specifications and customer requirements.
The successful candidate will review engineering drawings and technical documentation, determine machining strategies, select appropriate tooling and fixtures, and generate CNC programs using CAM software and machine-specific controls. This position requires close collaboration with machinists, engineers, and production personnel to optimize manufacturing processes, troubleshoot machining challenges, improve cycle times, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • ย Create, modify, optimize, and maintain CNC programs for milling and machining centersย 
  • ย Review engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T specifications, and technical documentation to develop machining programsย 
  • ย Analyze part requirements and determine the most efficient machining methods and manufacturing strategiesย 
  • ย Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, workholding devices, and machining parametersย 
  • ย Generate CNC programs utilizing CAM software and machine-specific programming systemsย 
  • ย Establish feeds, speeds, tool paths, and machining sequences to maximize productivity and qualityย 
  • ย Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and production personnel during setup and production operationsย 
  • ย Troubleshoot programming, tooling, and machining issues to minimize downtime and improve efficiencyย 
  • ย Optimize machining programs to reduce cycle times and improve repeatabilityย 
  • ย Conduct program verification and test runs to validate performance and dimensional accuracyย 
  • ย Ensure all programs comply with quality, safety, and production requirementsย 
  • ย Maintain accurate program files, setup sheets, tooling documentation, and process recordsย

Qualifications

  • ย High School Diploma or equivalent requiredย 
  • ย Technical Certificate or Associate Degree in Machining, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferredย 
  • ย Strong CNC programming experience within a machining, manufacturing, or precision production environmentย 
  • ย Hands-on knowledge of milling operations and CNC machining processesย 
  • ย Experience generating and modifying CNC programs for milling and machining centersย 
  • ย Strong understanding of machine setup procedures, tooling applications, feeds, and speedsย 
  • ย Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirementsย
