Job description

SUMMARY


Responsible for utilizing advanced machining skills to produce high-quality components. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of machining processes, the ability to generate, read, and interpret complex drawings, and a strong capability in both manual and CNC machining, including programming and coding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex machining operations on various machines such as Haas Lathe, Feeler, G&L, Femco Vertical Mills, and Femco HBC with minimal or no supervision.
- Demonstrate strong lathe experience and engage in prototype machining, research and development, and reverse engineering tasks.
- Utilize both manual machines and CNC machines, and apply conversational programming and CNC coding skills.
- Set up and adjust machine controls and offsets, and monitor operations to detect and resolve malfunctions.
- Periodically inspect parts during runs and after completion to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.
- Perform preventative maintenance practices on machines
- Process all paperwork in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Monitor job costing to ensure machining remains within acceptable limits relative to estimates.
- Lead and mentor team members, promoting a positive attitude and teamwork.
- Read and understand complex machining blueprints, and write simple machining programs on various controllers.
- Ensure familiarity with base machines and apply prior machining and programming knowledge effectively.

Required Education:

HS Diploma, GED or equivalent. Minimum of 10 years of related machine shop experience and/or training equivalent.


Required Experience:
- Prior work history or knowledge of setting up and running CNC machines 
- Able to read and understand complex machining blueprints
- Able to write simple machining programs on several different controllers
Preferred Experience:
- Sets-up and runs complex machining operations on the Haas Lathe, Feeler, G&L, Femco Vertical Mills, and Femco HBC
- Observes machine operation to detect malfunctions, adjust machine controls, and offsets with minimal or no supervision.
- Ability to do prototype machining, R&D, and reverse engineering
- Experience with manual machines, CNC machines, conversational programming, and CNC coding
