Job description

Shape complex ideas into precision parts

Start your day by reviewing the traveler: confirm prior operation sign‑offs, verify part counts, and pull up the latest drawings and specifications. You reference GD&T per ASME Y14.5, open your CAD/CAM toolkit (Mastercam, Esprit, SolidWorks), and translate engineering intent into efficient, reliable toolpaths for both 5+ axis VMCs and advanced multi‑axis lathes. You design and program the workholding that makes it all possible, run pre‑use equipment checks, confirm gages are in calibration, and keep every action fully documented for traceability.

Day-in-the-life highlights
  • Document every task with precision across work orders, inspection sheets, and maintenance logs.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5 to drive manufacturable strategies.
  • Model, draft, and generate toolpaths in CAD/CAM to produce close‑tolerance components.
  • Develop and refine advanced machining and inspection processes, including CMM workflows.
  • Before any operation: verify previous sign‑offs, confirm part counts, and perform required equipment maintenance checks.
  • Validate measuring equipment calibration status and condition prior to use.
  • Maintain product/document ID and traceability following established protocols.
  • Reference all required drawings, specifications, and Manufacturing Process Instructions ahead of machining.
  • Adhere to department Standard Process Instructions to ensure consistency and flow.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining‑related quality issues rapidly to support production.
  • Create, modify, and verify NC programs for all shop equipment.
  • Design and program modular and dedicated fixtures for varying production volumes.
  • Drive cycle‑time reduction via program optimization, tool selection, and fixturing improvements.
  • Author and sustain process documentation for legacy product lines.
  • Research, test, and implement new cutting tools, workholding, and programming technologies.
  • Introduce new CNC programs that align with and strengthen product flow through the facility.
What you bring
  • AS in Manufacturing Technology preferred, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
  • 4+ years working with CAD/CAM platforms (Esprit/Mastercam & SolidWorks preferred).
  • 8+ years operating and programming CNC equipment in manufacturing; medical device experience is a plus.
  • Experience with mechanical inspection methods and CMM inspection.
  • Strong computer fluency across MS Office, CAD, and CAM.
Core proficiencies
  • CNC programming across milling and turning
  • CNC machine setup and changeover
  • Advanced inspection and gage measurement
Tools & technology you’ll use
  • CAM software: Mastercam (plus experience with Esprit and SolidWorks)
  • CNC Mill: 5+ axis VMC
  • CNC Lathe: 5+ axis
