Position Overview
We are seeking experienced CNC Machine Operators to run structural steel processing equipment including saw and drill lines, angle lines, plasma tables, and beam processing machines. Operators will be responsible for processing raw steel material according to engineered drawings, ensuring accurate cuts, holes, layouts, and markings while maintaining production efficiency and quality standards.
The ideal candidate has experience operating heavy industrial CNC equipment, reading fabrication prints, using overhead cranes, and working safely around large structural steel components.Types of Operators NeededSaw & Drill Line Operator
Operates Peddinghaus Saw/Drill Lines or similar beam processing equipment used to cut structural steel beams and drill holes according to fabrication drawings.
Responsibilities:
- Load and position beams using overhead cranes
- Program and operate CNC saw and drill equipment
- Verify dimensions and hole locations
- Inspect finished material for accuracy
- Maintain production records and material tracking
Angle Line Operator
Operates Peddinghaus Angle Master or similar angle processing equipment used to punch, mark, shear, and process steel angles for fabrication.
Responsibilities:
- Process structural angles per shop drawings
- Verify punch patterns and measurements
- Monitor machine operations and material flow
- Ensure part identification and marking accuracy
- Perform machine setups and adjustments
Plasma Table Operator
Operates Kinetic Plasma Table or similar CNC plasma cutting equipment used to cut plates, gussets, clips, connection plates, and custom steel components.
Responsibilities:
- Load steel plate material
- Operate CNC plasma cutting systems
- Verify cut quality and dimensional accuracy
- Perform part marking and identification
- Assist with material movement and staging
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate CNC structural steel fabrication equipment safely and efficiently
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and production paperwork
- Measure materials to ensure conformance with design specifications
- Select correct material type, stock size, and dimensions
- Transfer appropriate data, markings, and identifying information onto materials
- Verify cuts, hole locations, dimensions, and part quality
- Utilize overhead cranes and material handling systems to load and unload steel
- Maintain production records and track material usage
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment
- Assist in troubleshooting machine issues and production interruptions
- Follow established quality, safety, and housekeeping standards
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and production ready
Required Qualifications
- Experience operating one or more of the following:
- Kinetic Plasma Table
- Peddinghaus Saw/Drill Line
- Peddinghaus Angle Master
- Ficep Beamline
- Similar structural steel CNC equipment
- Experience working in a structural steel, steel fabrication, or heavy industrial environment
- Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16"
- Ability to perform basic math calculations
- Experience using overhead cranes
- Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work throughout an entire shift
- Comfortable working in indoor, non-climate-controlled environments
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Preferred Qualifications
- Structural steel fabrication experience
- Blueprint and shop drawing interpretation skills
- Experience with Tekla PowerFab
- Forklift experience
- CNC programming adjustments and troubleshooting experience
- Production manufacturing background
Work Environment
- Heavy industrial structural steel fabrication facility
- Exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and moving equipment
- Frequent use of overhead cranes and material conveyance systems
- Large steel beams, columns, plate, and fabrication components
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cocoa, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
