Job description

Certified Nursing Assistant

Naval Medical Center San Diego โ€“ San Diego, CA

Compass Government Solutions is currently recruiting qualified Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to provide inpatient nursing support services on 5 West at Naval Medical Center San Diego in San Diego, California.

This position supports patient care operations in a military medical center environment, including admissions, discharges, transfers, vital signs, patient documentation, examination room preparation, and clinical support services.

Work Schedule: Services shall be provided Sunday through Saturday from 0000โ€“2359 hours, including holidays. Shifts are scheduled for 12-hour periods, not including an uncompensated 60-minute lunch break.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare examination and patient care rooms prior to patient arrival
  • Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed
  • Measure and record patient vital signs, including temperature, respiration, pulse, weight, and blood pressure
  • Obtain and document patient medical history, medication history, allergies, chief complaints, and vital signs using appropriate forms and systems
  • Perform diagnostic procedures as ordered and within scope of practice
  • Maintain examination room stock levels and perform routine maintenance of patient care and examination areas
  • Complete laboratory and x-ray requisitions in accordance with clinic policies and procedures
  • Enter demographic information into electronic systems during patient check-in
  • Enter diagnoses and patient departure times upon discharge or release
  • Provide direct patient support while maintaining professionalism, compassion, and confidentiality
  • Support nursing and clinical staff in delivering high-quality patient care services

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Completion of a certified nursing assistant program required

Certification:

  • Must possess and maintain current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year of experience within the last two years as a Certified Nursing Assistant

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of basic nursing care principles and patient support procedures
  • Ability to accurately document patient information and vital signs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and healthcare documentation systems preferred
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism in a military healthcare setting
