Job description

Description:

CMM QUALITY TECHNICIAN – 2nd SHIFT

Precision matters. So does your schedule.

Ushers Machine & Tool Co., Inc.
Aalberts Surface Technologies – Machining Solutions

If you speak GD&T fluently, trust data over guesses, and enjoy proving parts are right (or calling them out when they’re not), we should talk.

The Shift (a.k.a. the good one)
  • Monday–Thursday: 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM
  • Friday: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Full days, short Fridays. Your weekends start early — as they should.

But also.. 10% shift premium after training and paid lunch breaks!

What You’ll Actually Do

This isn’t babysitting gauges. You’ll be the CMM subject-matter expert on second shift.

  • Program and operate CMMs to customer drawings, CAD models, and specs
  • Interpret GD&T like it’s your native language
  • Generate inspection reports and issue NCRs when parts miss the mark
  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections
  • Maintain CMM calibration, programs, and accessories
  • Use tools like borescopes, micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, gauge pins
  • Recommend fixturing improvements to Engineering (your voice matters here)
  • Train others on proper CMM operation and inspection practices
  • Keep quality records tight, traceable, and audit-ready

In short: you protect the customer, the process, and the company’s reputation.

What We’re Looking For

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (non-negotiable)
  • 3–5 years CMM operation or programming in manufacturing
  • 2+ years inspecting machined parts
  • Comfortable issuing NCRs and backing them up with data

ASQ CQT or PC-DMIS certification? Great. Not required, but we’ll notice.

Why This Role is for You

  • Clear expectations
  • Real technical ownership
A schedule that respects your life
  • A quality team that values accuracy over shortcuts
