Job Description About the Role Pinnacle Partners is recruiting for a CMM Programmer in Fort Wayne, IN. This position will focus on programming and inspecting high-precision, low-quantity machined parts using CMM equipment and a variety of manual inspection tools. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, detail-oriented inspection professional who can independently program and operate CMMs, interpret complex drawings and GD&T, inspect tight tolerances, and communicate effectively with engineers, machinists, and tool makers in a job-shop environment.

Key Responsibilities: Program, set up, and operate Hexagon CMM equipment using PC-DMIS software. Inspect high-precision, low-quantity machined parts for dimensional accuracy and conformance to customer specifications. Work with a 2020 Hexagon Global S Green CMM and Hexagon Absolute Arm.

Utilize other inspection equipment including optical CMMs, comparators, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, depth gauges, and dial indicators. Perform manual and hard checks as needed to verify part dimensions and quality. Communicate inspection results and feedback to machinists and tool makers when features are out of tolerance.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T callouts, and job orders. Inspect finished products for quality and machine accuracy. Verify and calibrate inspection equipment as needed.

Maintain accurate inspection documentation and quality records. Set up and run parts efficiently while maintaining quality standards. Work in a fast-paced job-shop environment with a constant flow of prototype, one-off, and low-volume parts.

Inspect parts produced on Haas, Okuma, and Makino machining equipment. Support inspection of parts produced on multi-axis machinery, manual mills and lathes, and profile OD/ID grinders. Collaborate with engineers, machinists, tool makers, and other inspection personnel to resolve quality and dimensional issues.

Support precision machining work for Aerospace and other demanding industries. Maintain a hands-on presence within the quality/inspection operation. Work independently with limited supervision while managing multiple inspection priorities.

Help maintain a strong quality culture focused on accuracy, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. Requirements: Minimum of 5+ years of related inspection experience. Demonstrated ability to program, set up, and operate a CMM.

Experience programming CMMs using Hexagon/PC-DMIS strongly preferred. Ability to program a CMM for new parts rather than solely operating existing programs. Thorough experience reading engineering prints and understanding GD&T.

Experience inspecting tight dimensional tolerances of 0.0002" or less. Ability to use inspection equipment including depth gauges, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and dial indicators. Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills

Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Strong collaboration skills when working with engineers, machinists, tool makers, and inspection personnel. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities. Ability to work efficiently in a high-precision, low-volume manufacturing environment. Preferred: Experience with PC-DMIS programming.

Experience programming CMMs using other software platforms; training can be provided on specific systems. Experience inspecting steels, stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and other exotic aerospace materials. Hands-on mechanical aptitude.

CAD/CAM knowledge or previous experience using CAD/CAM systems. Experience working in a job-shop or precision machining environment. Experience with machining processes and multi-axis equipment.

Experience in an ISO 9001 environment. Aerospace manufacturing experience. Experience with prototype and one-off parts.

Familiarity with Haas, Okuma, or Makino machining equipment. Experience with manual mills and lathes. Experience working with optical inspection equipment or profile OD/ID grinders.

Benefits Overview: Up to $40/hour base pay, with potential to reach $42/hour for the right candidate. Time-and-a-half pay after 40 hours. Double-time pay after 50 hours.
