Job Summary
This position is responsible for pre-visit planning, standard rooming responsibilities, assisting with procedures, discharge instructions and carries out both administrative and clinical tasks as directed by a medical provider. This position is instrumental in helping the patient feel at ease while collaborating with the provider throughout the patient's visit.
What you will do
  • Room patients, perform and document vital signs and patient backgrounds.
  • Coordinate provider schedules and appointment, enter orders and prepare patient charts.
  • Instruct patients and families as directed within scope of licensure or certification.
  • Prepare patients and assist medical providers with in-office procedures and prepare and administer medications/immunizations.
  • Maintain exam rooms and equipment to be within infection control standards. Ensure appropriate levels of medical supplies for each patient room.

Education Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or Practical Nursing program. Required
Experience Qualifications
  • Minimum of 160 hours of direct patient care experience as a MA/LPN obtained through professional MA/LPN work experience or completion of student clinical rotations. Required
  • Current clinical experience as a Medical Assistant Preferred
  • Current clinical experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse Preferred
Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of principles and skills needed for practical nurse or medical assistant to provide patient care
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Fosters work and patient relationships through excellent interpersonal skills and behaviors.
  • Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy level
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet changing demands.

Licenses and Certifications
  • If holds other licenses that supersede CMA/RMA license may practice to the highest level of licensure with the approval of Quality Resources in writing. Approval to be kept on file with department supervisor. Employee must maintain licensure to continue working at higher level of service.
  • Certified as a Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, or Registered Medical Assistant in the state of WI through an approved accreditor. Upon Hire Required
  • Valid Practical Nursing license in the state of WI through an approved accreditor. Upon Hire Required
  • CPS/BLS Certification Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers from approved program or Prevea sponsored program. Upon Hire Required
