POSITION SUMMARY 

A Fitness Director (FD) is responsible for all personal training at all of our locations. The Fitness Director will hire and develop all new trainers and will be responsible for training revenue growth with the essential focus of coaching and training all personal trainers to achieve success. Coaching areas include hiring, sales, and service. The FD also serves as a ‘guidance counselor’ to all trainers, ‘educator and mentor’ for all training staff, and ’strategist’ for the Club Director. The FD is responsible for managing the Trainer Onboarding Process which includes conducting the fitness consultation, determining the right combination of personnel and tools for each member, and managing the retention score to ensure meaningful touch points for the lifetime of the member. 

While skills in training and programming are important, the FD will function more as the sales manager and leader of the entire fitness department. The FD must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to drive an overall productive and efficient fitness department for multiple clubs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the overall production of the Company's fitness training program by driving membership and training sales.
  • Communicate and implement campaigns as set forth by the Ownership.
  • Manage client interactions; coach trainers to manage client profiles and touch points.
  • Lead, inspire, and motivate a team of Personal Trainers on all aspects of personal training and on best practices.
  • Train Personal Trainers on how to effectively complete fitness consultations and selling personal training packages.
  • Train Personal Trainers on 1:1 training, small group training, and team training.
  • Review and analyze club reports and data to identify trends and areas of needed improvement and areas of opportunity.
  • Review and maintain client profiles for all clubs assigned.
  • Work with the company to forecast and determine monthly goals, communicate goals to team members, and hold them accountable.
  • Team building through strong leadership and development.
  • Taking on the responsibility of coaching sessions and provide coverage when Personal Trainers are not able to 
  • Oversee the hiring process for Personal Trainers to ensure candidates meet the company's needs and objectives.
  • Provide top line customer service to members, clients, and fellow employees.
  • Create a culture and community of fun, hardworking individuals who love helping others succeed.
  • Ensure club cleanliness and service standards are exceptional.
  • Potential travel up to 50% of time

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver pre-designed workouts to 1:1 clients and to groups of 2+ members
  • Program and implement individualized workouts for members.
  • Energize and motivate team members.
  • Build fitness attendance and retain current members/training clients.
  • Ensure the safety of participants in regard to heart rate and exercise technique.
  • Provide options and challenges for specific exercises to accommodate various skill levels.
  • Attend/lead weekly/monthly fitness staff meetings and required educational presentations.
  • Handle member concerns when applicable.

Please note: In order to provide the best customer service to our members and clients, this position is not a typical 9-5 job. You must be willing to work some evenings and some Saturdays.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of supervisory or management experience leading a winning team, preferably in a gym setting or a fitness related position
  • Fitness sales experience is required.
  • 4-year degree in related field
  • Have a strong knowledge of physiology, exercise technique, and body mechanics.
  • Must possess an active fitness certification/personal trainer certification from an AF fitness-approved education company such as ACSM, ACE, NASM, NSCA, ISSA, NSCA, etc.
  • Current CPR/AED Certification.
  • 2-5 years years of experience training 1:1 or groups in the fitness industry.
  • Proven ability to lead a winning sales team.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and stay organized.
  • Positive, motivating, and effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Innovated problem-solver with the ability to increase productivity.
  • Desire and capacity to train all fitness levels.
  • Manage time and schedules.
  • Possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong project management background
  • Must be able to safely lift and move up to 50 lbs. and work in a gym setting. A Personal Training Manager will spend much of the day in the clubs on their feet.

COMPENSATION 

$75,000 to $100,000 yearly earnings potential.
