Country Club of Colorado, located in Colorado Springs, CO, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Full-Time Controller! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you will contribute to a global leader in golf and community management. 

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on financial professional who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and enjoys partnering with operational leaders. The Controller will oversee the Club’s day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions while providing meaningful financial analysis to support sound business decisions across a diverse, multi-department operation.

The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with an operational mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate financial information effectively to both financial and non-financial leaders.

As part of Troon, the Controller will also have the opportunity to contribute and grow within the world’s largest professional club management company.

This position offers some remote flexibility based on Club seasonality and operational needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly and year-end financial statements, management reports, forecasts, audit schedules, and tax packages in accordance with established policies and in partnership with Club and organizational leadership.
  • Manage the monthly and year-end closing processes, including preparation and posting of journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and supporting documentation.
  • Analyze financial performance and prepare detailed budget-to-actual and prior-year variance reports, identifying trends and recommending appropriate action plans.
  • Maintain detailed work papers supporting balance sheet reconciliations, revenue and expense analyses, general ledger accounts, and other financial activity.
  • Maintain an accurate and current general ledger and chart of accounts and ensure consistency and integrity of financial reporting.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure timely and accurate payments, collections, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Oversee member accounting processes, including member billing, dues, initiation fees, receivables, collections, and related account activity.
  • Monitor cash flow and liquidity and provide appropriate reporting to Club leadership.
  • Supervise monthly and annual bank reconciliations, credit card transaction reviews, inventory accounting, and related financial controls.
  • Manage vendor invoicing, contracts, and financial tracking for both operating and capital expenditures.
  • Maintain appropriate internal controls and financial procedures designed to safeguard Club assets, ensure accuracy, and support compliance with established policies.
  • Assist with the preparation, coordination, and ongoing monitoring of the Club’s annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Partner with department leaders across golf, membership, racquets, fitness, aquatics, spa, retail, food & beverage, and administration to analyze financial performance, identify trends and opportunities, and support sound operating decisions.
  • Review payroll reporting and reconciliations and coordinate with Human Resources and payroll resources to support accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Support external audit, tax, regulatory, and other financial compliance requirements as needed.
  • Provide financial guidance to department leaders and assist them in understanding budgets, forecasts, financial results, and areas of opportunity.
  • Continuously evaluate accounting processes and systems and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, reporting, and internal controls.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Five or more years of progressive accounting or financial management experience preferred.
  • Experience within a private club, golf, resort, hospitality, or other multi-department operating environment strongly preferred.
  • Jonas Club Software experience preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and demonstrated proficiency with accounting, financial reporting, point-of-sale, and related business systems.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial statement preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Experience analyzing financial results and communicating key findings to operational and executive leadership.
  • Ability to translate financial information into clear, practical information for non-financial department leaders.
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated attention to accuracy, deadlines, confidentiality, and detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, service-oriented environment.
  • Supervisory or accounting-team leadership experience preferred.
  • CPA or CMA designation is a plus but not required.
