Salesforce Commerce Cloud SME
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Salesforce Commerce Cloud Subject Matter Expert (SME) with strong expertise in Salesforce licensing, contract management, and consumption optimization. The ideal candidate will help optimize Salesforce Commerce Cloud licensing costs while ensuring the platform remains scalable, compliant, and aligned with business growth.
This role requires a unique blend of technical knowledge and commercial understanding. You will work closely with Enterprise Architecture, IT, Procurement, Finance, Legal, and business stakeholders to monitor platform usage, forecast licensing needs, and ensure efficient utilization of Salesforce Commerce Cloud services.
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and optimize Salesforce Commerce Cloud licensing, entitlements, and consumption models.
  • Review Salesforce contracts, including GMV (Gross Merchandise Value), order volumes, API limits, transaction fees, and credit consumption.
  • Monitor platform usage against licensed entitlements to avoid overages, unexpected true-ups, and compliance issues.
  • Identify unused licenses, redundant features, and inefficient consumption patterns to reduce the overall Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Partner with Procurement, Finance, and Legal teams during Salesforce contract renewals, negotiations, and licensing audits.
  • Collaborate with solution architects and development teams to ensure application design, integrations, and customizations do not generate unnecessary licensing or consumption costs.
  • Forecast licensing requirements based on business initiatives such as new storefront launches, international expansion, seasonal traffic spikes, and promotional campaigns.
  • Establish governance and best practices for API usage, data storage, third-party integrations, and platform consumption.
  • Provide recommendations to improve licensing efficiency while maintaining platform performance and scalability.
  • Prepare reports and dashboards to track licensing utilization, consumption trends, and future capacity planning.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience within the Salesforce ecosystem.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud (B2C Commerce and B2B Commerce).
  • Strong expertise in Salesforce licensing, contract structures, entitlements, and consumption optimization.
  • In-depth understanding of Salesforce licensing models, including:
    • Gross Merchandise Value (GMV)
    • Order Volume
    • API Consumption
    • Credit-Based Licensing
    • Transaction Fees
  • Experience working with Procurement, Finance, Legal, and Enterprise IT teams on Salesforce contract negotiations and renewals.
  • Solid understanding of Salesforce Commerce Cloud architecture, including:
    • SFRA (Storefront Reference Architecture)
    • Headless / Composable Commerce
    • Page Designer
    • Commerce AI / Agentforce
  • Ability to translate technical implementations into licensing and cost implications.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Salesforce Commerce Cloud Architect, Developer, or Accredited B2C/B2B Commerce Specialist Certification.
  • Experience with Salesforce Order Management (OMS).
  • Knowledge of enterprise governance, cloud cost optimization, and licensing compliance.
  • Experience supporting high-volume eCommerce environments and large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
