Job description

Summary:

The Cloud & Platform Analyst is responsible for supporting and operating enterprise compute platforms across a hybrid environment including on-prem data centers and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role focuses on day-to-day operations, support, and execution across Google Compute Engine (GCE), VMware environments, and Linux-based systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on operator with foundational technical skills who can follow established architectural standards, assist with cloud and infrastructure initiatives, and contribute to maintaining stable, secure, and scalable hybrid environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support day-to-day operations of computer platforms across on-prem and cloud environments (GCP). 

  • Assist in provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of virtual machines in GCE and VMware environments. 

  • Support hybrid infrastructure operations, ensuring availability, performance, and stability of systems. 

  • Participate in execution of infrastructure and migration activities (on-prem to cloud, cloud-to-cloud) under guidance of senior engineers. 

  • Assist with IBM Power Systems (Power Series) environments, including AIX-based workloads where applicable. 

  • Perform routine system administration tasks including patching, updates, monitoring, and troubleshooting. 

  • Support Linux environments across multiple distributions (RHEL, Ubuntu, SUSE); exposure to AIX is a plus. 

  • Execute Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployments and automation tasks using pre-defined templates and standards. 

  • Follow established runbooks for provisioning, incident response, and operational activities. 

  • Work closely with middleware, application, and DevOps teams to support platform requirements. 

  • Assist in troubleshooting incidents and performing root cause analysis with guidance from senior engineers. 

  • Maintain system documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures. 

  • Ensure adherence to security policies, compliance requirements, and configuration standards. 

  • Participate in on-call rotation, providing after-hours support for production systems and incident response.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Foundational knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), particularly Compute Engine (GCE). 

  • Basic understanding of cloud and on-prem infrastructure concepts, including virtualization and networking. 

  • Familiarity with VMware environments (vSphere/vCenter) and virtual machine lifecycle management.

  • Exposure to IBM Power Systems (Power Series) and AIX environments is a plus. 

  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems (RHEL, Ubuntu, SUSE). 

  • Basic understanding of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar) and automation concepts. 

  • Ability to follow operational procedures and implement predefined technical solutions. 

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a production support environment.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (applications, middleware, networking).

  • Strong attention to detail and ownership in executing assigned tasks. 

  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow technical skillsets across cloud and infrastructure domains.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5+ years of experience in IT operations, infrastructure support, or cloud support roles.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure) or virtualization technologies.
  • Experience supporting Linux-based environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to VMware environments and enterprise infrastructure operations.
  • Exposure to IBM Power Systems and AIX environments.
  • Basic experience with automation or scripting (Terraform, Ansible, Bash).
  • Experience supporting hybrid (cloud + on-prem) environments.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and incident management.

Required Licensing or Certifications:

  • RHEL or Unix certifications

  • Azure, AWS, GCP certifications

  • Any technical certifications

Working Conditions:

  •  Hybrid: 4 days at office, 1 day from home

Travel:
