Job description

As a global leader in cybersecurity, CrowdStrike protects the people, processes and technologies that drive modern organizations. Since 2011, our mission hasn't changed - we're here to stop breaches, and we've redefined modern security with the world's most advanced AI-native platform. We work on large scale distributed systems, processing almost 3 trillion events per day and this traffic is growing daily. Our customers span all industries, and they count on CrowdStrike to keep their businesses running, their communities safe and their lives moving forward. We're proud to work for a mission-driven company leveraging AI to transform the way we work. CrowdStrikers drive their careers through flexibility and autonomy while also being expected to contribute to a culture of responsible AI adoption, experimentation, and innovation. We use an AI-first mindset as a force multiplier to proactively and continuously accelerate execution, build expertise, uncover insights, and solve complex problems. We're always looking to add talented CrowdStrikers to the team who have limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to our customers, our community and each other. Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you.
About the team
CrowdStrike is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to join our expanding Surface Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for building globally distributed, fault-tolerant, and highly scalable cloud ecosystems using Golang and Python. While prior experience with Golang or Python is not required, it is considered an asset.
CrowdStrike is a security company, but we do not require candidates for this role to have prior security industry experience. We will mentor and train in security topics as needed. We do expect a strong interest in CrowdStrike's mission and a willingness to engage with the needs of our product teams and customers.
You will join the External Attack Surface Management (EASM) engineering team, which develops the Falcon Surface product. Falcon Surface identifies unknown and exposed internet-facing assets to help security teams better secure their digital perimeter. This solution enables teams to detect, prioritize, and manage exposed assets across on-premise, subsidiary, cloud, and third-party environments-all without requiring agents or complex deployment.
This is a hybrid role requiring 2-3 days in office in Sunnyvale, CA.
More information about Falcon Surface:

What you will do
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend microservices, taking ownership from initial architecture through deployment.
  • Engineer robust cloud-based systems using internal services to proactively detect targeted attacks.
  • Collaborate across geographic regions and cross-functional teams to brainstorm, research, and define technical solutions.
  • Champion code quality, testing standards, and best practices to ensure high-performance, stable systems.
  • Advocate for the customer by translating user pain points into technical improvements and innovative features.
  • Accelerate development workflows by leveraging generative AI tools such as Claude Code to improve efficiency, code quality, and delivery speed.
  • Cultivate a growth mindset, actively learning new technologies and improving the product architecture.
  • Thrive in an autonomous, high-trust environment, taking ownership of complex projects within a fast-moving, agile team.

In-depth knowledge of all of these items is not required, but the ability to ramp-up and learn quickly is required:
  • Go (Golang)
  • Python
  • Cloud infrastructure: AWS (S3, EC2, ECS, Lambda); familiarity with GCP or OCI is a plus
  • Docker and containerization
  • Kubernetes
  • Kafka
  • OpenSearch / Elasticsearch
  • Cassandra
  • Redis
  • Git

What you'll need
  • U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident and work solely from U.S. soil
  • Degree in Computer Science (or relevant professional experience in data structures, algorithms, distributed systems)
  • Minimum of 3 years of production-level experience in building, delivering, and maintaining systems at scale
  • Solid understanding of scalability and distributed systems, including sharding, partitioning, and concurrency.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering best practices from appropriate testing paradigms to effective peer code reviews and resilient architecture
  • Experience using generative AI to optimize work effectively while maintaining quality and understanding of generated content
  • Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes.
Bonus points
  • Existing exposure to Python, Golang, AWS, Cassandra, Kafka, and Elasticsearch
  • Prior experience in cybersecurity or intelligence fields
  • Prior experience in exposure management or related
  • Full stack experience or basic frontend knowledge
  • Experience with observability tools such as Grafana and CICD pipeline automation
  • More in-depth experience with AI, development of custom AI tooling, or integration into other systems and workflows
