Overview
The Director of Commissioning leads and supports teams responsible for ensuring that building systems are designed, installed, and operated in alignment with the Owner's operational requirements and the Engineer's design intent. This role regularly engages with owners, their representatives, contractors, engineers, and architects to carry out essential responsibilities.
Responsibilities
  • Mentor and develop Cx Professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and strong client focus.
  • Establish performance standards, deliver coaching, and conduct evaluations as needed.
  • Collaborate with clients, internal teams, and external partners to ensure requirements are thoroughly defined, documented, and communicated.
  • Manage and distribute incoming project information to commissioning agents and technicians to support accurate and efficient execution.
  • Implement and maintain a structured process for frequent status tracking and reporting to clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all team communications to clients, contractors, and consultants are fully documented and properly executed.
  • Identify gaps in scope or performance and drive necessary corrective actions.
  • Develop and negotiate commissioning fee proposals, including labor-hour estimates.
  • Oversee KPIs and performance metrics to maintain project health and promote continuous improvement.
  • Provide input to the VP of Commissioning regarding commissioning standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Support business development efforts, including participating in interviews and pursuing opportunities with existing and new clients.
  • Lead, participate in, and advance the commissioning process across all assigned projects.
  • Participate in owner training activities alongside the Commissioning Provider.
  • Uphold ENFRA's owner advocacy principles and organizational core values.
  • Manage project commissioning budgets and guide teams to complete work efficiently and effectively.
  • Assess project feasibility and profitability prior to approval.
  • Cultivate a collaborative, accountable, and improvement-driven team culture.
  • Consistently reinforce ENFRA's commitment to client advocacy and core values.

Qualifications
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in commissioning or related building construction experience; mechanical, plumbing, automatic temperature control systems, and/or testing adjusting and balancing
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of building systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, controls, and building enclosure.
  • Detailed knowledge of the complete commercial construction process.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on employee development.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
  • Commissioning Certification (e.g. NEBB, ACG, BCxA, ASHRAE, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Cloud Based commissioning software platforms.
  • Able to interact with owner, owner's representatives, contractors, engineers, and architects in a professional manner
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team and build collaborative relationships.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Registered Engineering Intern (EI) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure
  • 5+ years in a leadership role.
Travel Requirements
  • 25%-40% of the time will be spent traveling to the job site(s)/office locations.

Pay Range
USD $116,860.00 - USD $156,050.00 /Yr.
