Overview of Responsibilities:
  • Substitute in a classroom with children ages 3 and under
  • Treat all children and adults with dignity and respect.
  • Assure the safety and well-being of all children
  • Promote feelings of trust and security in infants and toddlers by being warm, supportive, comforting, and by establishing strong and caring relationships with them.
  • Follow the program to meet the needs of individual children with concerns for their interests, special needs, talents and individual style and pace of learning.
  • Assure that each infant and toddler is warmly greeted upon arrival
  • Talk, sing and read to children frequently during the day.
  • Respond quickly in a soothing and tender manner to cries or calls of distress.
  • Respond consistently to needs for food and comfort.
  • Implement individualized feeding plans; respect individual preferences and eating styles; sit with children and share family-style meal; model manners and good nutrition.
  • Tend to each child's personal hygiene needs and remain attentive to them during routines such as diaper changing, cleaning, feeding and changing soiled or wet clothes.
  • Organize each day's activities to provide children with a variety of experiences and opportunities.
