Cerner Project Manager
Pay Range: $65/hour - $70/hour
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cerner Project Manager to lead end-to-end projects involving clinical applications, healthcare technology systems, and enterprise integrations. This role will be responsible for managing project scope, timelines, resources, risks, budgets, and deliverables while coordinating cross-functional teams across clinical, technical, operational, and vendor organizations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare IT project management, experience with clinical application implementations and upgrades, and the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end healthcare IT projects involving clinical applications, enterprise systems, and healthcare technology solutions.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, timelines, milestones, budgets, risks, issues, dependencies, and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including application analysts, infrastructure, interfaces, clinical operations, business stakeholders, vendors, and organizational leadership.
  • Partner with clinical and business stakeholders to define project requirements, scope, deliverables, objectives, and success criteria.
  • Manage implementations, upgrades, enhancements, migrations, optimizations, conversions, and system integrations.
  • Facilitate project meetings, status updates, stakeholder communications, and executive-level reporting.
  • Identify, track, and proactively manage project risks, issues, dependencies, assumptions, and change requests.
  • Coordinate application and system testing activities, including unit, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Lead implementation readiness activities, cutover planning, go-live coordination, and post-go-live stabilization.
  • Ensure project documentation, decisions, action items, status reports, and other project artifacts are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with vendors and third-party partners to manage deliverables, timelines, dependencies, and issue resolution.
  • Monitor project budgets, resources, schedules, milestones, and overall project performance.
  • Ensure projects align with organizational PMO standards, healthcare IT policies, security requirements, and applicable regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Provide leadership and direction to project teams while maintaining accountability for deliverables, timelines, and project outcomes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve project delivery, clinical workflows, and technology adoption.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of project management experience, preferably within a hospital, health system, or healthcare IT environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing clinical application, enterprise healthcare IT, or healthcare technology projects.
  • Experience working with enterprise clinical applications and healthcare information systems.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, clinical systems, and healthcare IT environments.
  • Experience managing cross-functional technical, clinical, and operational teams.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, project planning, risk management, issue management, and change management.
  • Experience managing implementations, upgrades, integrations, migrations, or system optimization initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a complex healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.
  • Experience with enterprise EHR/EMR or other major clinical application platforms.
  • Experience with large-scale clinical application implementations, upgrades, conversions, or optimization initiatives.
  • Experience managing hospital-wide or enterprise clinical technology implementations.
  • Experience with healthcare interoperability, integrations, or clinical technology projects.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory, security, privacy, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working within a formal PMO or structured project governance environment.
