- RiversideDepending on level of expertise:
• Assumes medical responsibility for patients/clients under their direct care/and supervision.
• Conducts comprehensive psychiatric assessments/evaluations and mental status examinations (MSEs) of patients/clients, and providing multi-axial diagnoses according to the current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) approved by the American Psychiatric Association (APA).
• Obtains and reviews data, including laboratory and other diagnostic procedures or consultations pertinent to the evaluation and treatment of patients/clients.
• Provides detailed written reports of assessments/evaluations, MSEs, diagnoses and summaries of treatment provided, and completes all medical records as required.
• Provides specialized expertise in the development and implementation of individualized mental health treatment planning for assigned patients/clients.
• Provides competent psychotropic medication treatment and other psychiatric treatments to meet the needs of assigned patients/clients.
• Evaluates and treats assigned patient/clients utilizing sub-specialized psychiatric training and certifications.
• Provides psychiatric services in outpatient clinics, residential treatment programs, emergency rooms and other settings.
• Provides consultation, review, and guidance to Staff Psychiatrist I, II, and III physicians in the evaluation and treatment of patients within their psychiatric sub-specialty area(s) of certification.
• Advises the medical director and administration about polices and issue relating to the evaluation and treatment of psychiatric sub-specialty populations.
• Participates in quality assurance, quality improvement and performance improvement programs and activities, including medical staff review.
• Provides consultative and training services for practicum students and non-physicians regarding psychiatric sub-specialty area(s) of certification.
• Provides expert advice and counseling for families and others involved regarding patient/client issues, problems and course of treatment. Presents information about mental disorders and their treatment to community groups and agencies.
• Prepares legal and other Court-related documents, written reports, and provides Court testimony as necessary.
• Participates in medical staff committee work as assigned and performs related tasks as required.License or Certification: Possession of a valid Physician's and Surgeon's Certificate issued by the State of California.
Possession of a Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration.
Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
Experience: Must be board eligible or certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, in general psychiatry. Candidates board certified in at least one other sub-specialty area of psychiatry will qualify for Staff Psychiatrist IV.
Knowledge of: The principles and practices of psychiatry including individual, group and family psychotherapy, and the specialized techniques, procedures, and equipment used in psychiatry, appropriate to the level of psychiatry residency training completed.
Ability to: Perform specialized psychiatric/medical services in general psychiatry; evaluate and prescribe medication, (including controlled substances) and other treatments; provide qualified, reimbursable services under guidelines of Medicare, Medi-Cal, and other funding sources; establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients/clients, staff, and others.For questions regarding this recruitment
