Job Summary

Under minimal direct supervision, provides clinical insight and knowledge supporting educational training on technical and procedural applications of company products to: customers (internal/external), potential customers, sales managers and marketing managers. (Customers typically include physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel.).
Provide detailed technical support for IS products and procedures to a wide range of clinical base including physicians, nurses and technicians. Support sales representatives with coverage for critical cases, primarily focused on cases with physicians that require technical support on the safe and effective use of our products
Provides highly specialized technical training typically in a clinical and/or surgical environment.  Collaborates with internal teams on the research, development, implementation and maintaining of product training support, materials, programs and initiatives. 
Serves as a company liaison with customers on clinical and technical matters supporting company initiatives, projects and products.  Advises management of any product or performance issues as they arise.  Provides feedback and recommendations for product improvement, and potential new products with appropriate departments.   Keeps abreast of new technologies and competition in order to provide technical/clinical insight and expertise to internal/external customers.  Makes recommendations to improve service and responsiveness to clients.  Primary responsibility is training in a clinical or surgical environment. This is not a sales or marketing position, however incentives/variable compensation may be tied to a sales program. 
Collaborates and/or implements and supports tactics supporting sales, marketing and business strategies.

Job Details/Responsibilities
  • The position works under the supervision of Regional Manager to support business unit goals, objectives, strategies, tactics and initiatives.
  • Train internal and external customers (Physicians, clinicians, distributors and technicians) on the proper technique and use of therapeutic Terumo Interventional products. 
  • Communicate verbally and written, with marketing and sales managers to address technical, and clinical issues.  
  • Develop and maintain clinical communications to support, document and drive appropriate product utilization.
  • Work with sales and marketing, internal departments and customers to resolve clinical and technical related problems. 
  • Support clinical seminars and medical society sponsored symposia.
  • Visit key customers to evaluate products and help maintain good customer relationships, gain competitive knowledge and new product concepts or product enhancement ideas. 
  • Ensure clinical compatibility between all IS products within the scope of procedural application. 
  • Work with marketing and sales to implement tactics supporting strategic goals and product related tactics.
  • Ensure, to the best of their ability IS products are used appropriately and with regard to patient safety.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with all Terumo LA Quality Systems requirements. This includes but is not limited to the prompt recognition and forwarding of customer complaints (i.e. adverse events, product performance reports, etc.) to Quality Assurance (QA), and by ensuring all promotional messaging (i.e. branding strategies, product claims, etc.) and materials (i.e. literature) discussed or presented to customers are clinically accurate and adhere to AdvaMed guidelines and Terumo’s policy on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals.  Maintain strong knowledge of and adherence to regulations regarding promotional material content and control. Follow procedures for good clinical practices and Design Control when participating in new product development and clinical activities. Fully adhere to all applicable FDA regulations, international guidelines and Terumo’s policies at all times. 
  •  Support Sales of IS products in Puerto Rico, follow up distributor performance and ensure customer availability of the products. 
  • Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling to be able to provide last minute technical case support where organization or customers requires it
  • Provide education and support to IS sales and clinical counterparts on coronary and peripheral products and partner within the team to share and leverage best practices.
  • Support all IS activities including but not limited to; training or suppor other MSO region needed
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)
  • Strong technical and clinical knowledge in human anatomy and physiology and medical procedural techniques (preferably endovascular or cardiac). 
  • Ability to quickly gain a thorough knowledge of company products and their recommended use.  
  • Requires the ability to handle customer/client inquiries and to respond with company information, selected reference material and analyze product applications and misapplications to diagnose product issues relating to usage, manufacture and/or failure.  
  • Requires strong interpersonal and analytical skills, training and the ability to stay abreast of the current technology, company products and generally accepted medical practices related to products and procedural area.  
  • Must be able to handle several time constrained projects simultaneously, while educating and satisfying both internal and external customers. 
  • Ability to present and effectively communicate complex clinical and technical data to others of a non-scientific orientation and with varying backgrounds and knowledge levels. 
     
Qualifications/ Background Experiences
  • B.S. in Health Science, Nursing or Technical Discipline preferred
  • 2+ years related clinical experience with Bachelor Degree
  • 3+ years’ experience related to medical devices industry preferably in Coronary & peripheral products

Preferred Experiences:

  • RT & MRI certification
  • Prior experience with Image Guided Systems
  • Prior experience in CT & MRI 
  • Previous experience with peripheral vascular & Cardiovascular Technology
