JOB SUMMARY:
Hawai'i Pacific University's School of Nursing is seeking a Clinical Facilities Coordinator (CFC) to serve as the academic professional responsible for negotiating and arranging clinical experiences which meet educational requirements for students within the Department of Nursing. This CFC acts as a liaison to interpret and match the needs of students and instructors to agencies with appropriate learning experiences and is responsible for complex communication and problem solving to maintain positive working relationships with a variety of contacts inside and outside the College. The CFC operates from a solid understanding of nursing education and practice, combined with knowledge of the organizational environments where nurses practice.
This is a part-time, temporary (Fall term), non-exempt Clinical Coordinator staff position, approved for up to 19 hours per week.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), or equivalent nursing degree, from an accredited educational institution with at least three years post nursing practice experiences.
• Licensed or eligible for RN licensure in Hawaii.
• Detail oriented, excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated skills in negotiation and conflict resolution.
• Experience in effectively working with those of other cultures and backgrounds, including the commitment to building a culturally diverse educational environment.
• Basic skills in maintaining data bases.

Desired Qualifications:

• Prior clinical administrative experience
• Five years' experience as a clinical faculty member.
• Proficiency with computer technology/software, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and knowledge of clinical nursing skills.

Other Qualifications:

• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance are not available for this position.
• Must meet training and background check qualification and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
• Upon hire, candidate must have reliable transportation to all HPU worksites and other locations as required by position.
• Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
1. Collaborate with Department of Nursing administration and faculty to determine clinical placement experiences for students (65%).

• Meet face-to-face regularly with community facilities on site.
• Attend community and Hawai'i State Center of Nursing (HSCN) meetings to establish and promote collaborative relationships with community facilities.
• Collaborate and consult with Clinical Coordinators to determine the educational requirements for clinical experiences.
• Conduct meetings at least every semester with Clinical Coordinators to provide information regarding policy and procedure changes related to individual clinical agencies.
• Develop and maintain the clinical facility schedule for each semester and session in conjunction with other nursing programs and clinical agencies.
• Schedule faculty and student orientation to clinical facilities. Orient
• Clinical Coordinators to policies relating to individual clinical agencies.
• Assist in maintaining and revising, as necessary, Memoranda of Understanding with agencies utilized for student and clinical placement.
• Advise the Dean/Associate Dean: College of Health and Society on matters of concern relating to all Oahu nursing programs/clinical agencies.
• Represent the Department of Nursing at clinical agencies' educational subcommittees or task forces as required.
• Consult with faculty and assist with arranging clinical experiences for international study abroad students.
• Maintain accurate records on a database system regarding clinical placements.
• Assist with health records, orientations.

2. Coordinate clinical placements for undergraduate nursing students (30%).

• Establish and maintain relationships with representatives of other nursing schools to collaborate and negotiate clinical sites.
• Establish and maintain relationships with representatives of the agencies in which students are placed to preserve a variety of clinical practice sites for nursing students.
• Communicate with placement agencies regarding plans for student placements.
