Job description

Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) is preferred.  A minimum of 5 years clinical experience preferred.
Environmental / Working Conditions
Works in a well-lighted, heated, and ventilated building. Hours may vary to accommodate needs of other departments. Many system management functions can only be performed during non-peak hours. Normal work hours are from 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday – Friday.
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position requires close interaction with physicians, nurses and other ancillary departments in order to facilitate a quality multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.  Will maintain close relationships with inpatient pharmacy staff and directors. 
Job Description
The CDS Pharmacist Systems Analyst is responsible is responsible for all aspects around the design, build, implementation and maintenance of their assigned clinical information systems. An in depth knowledge of their assigned applications is expected in order to answer questions from users and troubleshoot problems. This position is also expected to document workflow processes and collaborate with defined departments to streamline process efficiency. 
The individual will ensure that knowledgebased information, which includes the scientific literature of healthcare, is appropriately considered and evaluated prior to implementation of software changes.  Participates in development, monitoring, and evaluation of decision support for continuous improvement, particularly for medications.   Must be able to maintain good relationships and partner with providers, clinical staff, support staff and other members of the IT departments in order to elicit information necessary to optimize clinical work processes and keep systems performing at a high level. This includes an in depth knowledge of the applications in order to answer questions from users, trouble-shoot problems, and implement upgrades. The CDS pharmacist will possess excellent interpersonal skills, clinical informatics expertise, and project management skills. This individual is expected to deliver timely problem resolutions and provide solutions for user questions and requests for information.
Required Licensures/ Certifications/ Registrations
ITIL Foundations is preferred.
Registered pharmacist by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
Skills and Abilities
The ability to communicate with end users to ensure that customer needs are understood and appropriate decisions are facilitated. Knowledge of best practice guidelines in a variety of clinical settings related to documentation, practices and care delivery protocols. Have experience with monitoring and maintaining a production information system, along with PC skills and an understanding of commonly used software packages. Possess an understanding of basic networking and PC communication protocols.
The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, analytical, project management and problem-solving skills along with the ability to work in a team environment and independently.  The Ancillary Services Analyst must be able to maintain good relationships with providers, clinical staff, support staff and other departments in order to elicit information necessary to optimize clinical work processes and keep systems performing at a high level.
