Job Summary
The Clinical Informatics Nurse is responsible for identifying, assessing, and implementing clinical information systems to support and improve patient care processes. This role collaborates with clinicians, IT professionals, and other stakeholders to integrate technology solutions, enhance system usability, support training, and drive data-informed decision-making in alignment with hospital standards and regulatory compliance. The Clinical Informatics Nurse serves as a key liaison between clinical and technical teams to optimize electronic health records (EHR) and other digital platforms.
Essential Functions
  • Collaborates with clinicians to identify opportunities to improve and integrate clinical information systems.
  • Analyzes clinical informatics issues and implements technology-based solutions.
  • Reviews, develops, and maintains information systems for improved data management and reporting.
  • Designs and implements plans to test and evaluate clinical systems.
  • Provides training and ongoing support to clinical staff on EMR documentation and system functionality.
  • Assists users in identifying and resolving system-related issues in collaboration with IT teams and vendors.
  • Documents and prioritizes user requests, coordinating with application support teams as needed.
  • Develops strategies, policies, and procedures for implementing and modifying clinical technology systems.
  • Participates in cross-functional project teams to support system optimization and integration goals.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in clinical systems including EMRs and SAP or Business Warehouse tools.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Working knowledge of clinical workflows and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience in adult education and training delivery preferred.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or Information Systems preferred.

Licenses/Certifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in applicable state required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical informatics.
