POSITION SUMMARY
The Pharmacy Technician Informaticist II supports the analysis, design, implementation, and optimization of clinical and business information systems that support pharmacy operations across the Health First Integrated Delivery Network (IDN). Building upon foundational informatics competencies, The Pharmacy Technician Informaticist II assumes increased responsibility for workflow analysis, future state design, system optimization, and data analysis within pharmacy services. The Pharmacy Technician Informaticist II partners closely with pharmacy operations, clinical leadership, Information Technology (IT), and application teams to translate operational needs into effective informatics solutions. The Pharmacy Technician Informaticist II serves as a primary informatics resource for assigned pharmacy areas, contributing to system optimization, operational readiness, and safe medication practices.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Conducts current and future state workflow analyses related to pharmacy operations and medication use processes independently, serving as a primary informatics contact for assigned pharmacy areas or initiatives.
- Completes gap analyses and contributes to the design of optimized pharmacy workflows aligned with organizational standards.
- Performs data collection and analysis to support pharmacy performance, quality, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Collaborates with Epic Willow application analysts to support system configuration decisions and workflow alignment.
- Supports pharmacy system optimization efforts, including enhancements, upgrades, and post implementation evaluation and pharmacy operations during downtime events and go lives, including outside standard work hours as needed.
- Participates in Epic Triage and optimization activities, adhering to defined service level agreements (SLAs).
- Documents detailed workflow specifications, functional requirements, and recommendations related to pharmacy informatics solutions.
- Leads assigned project tasks or small pharmacy focused initiatives effectively under informatics or pharmacy leadership.
- Maintains and supports standard operating procedures related to pharmacy informatics workflows.
- Ensures compliance with pharmacy regulations, healthcare standards, and privacy/security requirements (e.g., HIPAA).
Work Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Associate's degree in a relevant field.
- Work Experience: Four (4) years' experience in pharmacy operations, healthcare, IT, or informatics support.
- Licensure: Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) licensure in the State of Florida.
- Certification: Any one of the following within six (6) months of start date and maintained:
- Epic Clinical Informaticist certification, accreditation, or proficiency of applicable modules OR
- Relevant pharmacy module certification.
- Work Experience In Lieu of Education: High School Diploma and an additional two (2) years' experience in allied health, or supporting technology systems.
- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Intermediate knowledge of Epic pharmacy modules and clinical information systems.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy workflows and healthcare operations.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to identify workflow and system improvement opportunities.
- Ability to independently manage assigned initiatives and deliverables from initiation through completion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to facilitate discussions with pharmacy and technical teams.
- Demonstrated organization, collaboration, and adaptability in a fast paced healthcare environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business or Healthcare Administration, IT, or a relevant field.
- Work Experience:
- Experience in pharmacy, acute care, ambulatory, ancillary, or revenue cycle.
- Experience supporting optimization initiatives across multiple pharmacy areas.
- Certification:
- National Pharmacy Technician certification.
- Epic certification.
- Informatics or healthcare IT certification (e.g., CHTS).
- Related certification from the Health Information Management System Society (HIMSS).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping.
- Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
- Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
- May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
