Job description

Job Summary

The role of a Clinical Pharmacist is to provide exceptional care for patients with specialized pharmacy requirements. This includes gathering and assessing clinical data from patients, creating and supervising care plans, communicating with prescribers to obtain orders, reporting outcomes, making therapeutic suggestions, and overseeing the activities of therapy care specialists in compliance with all state and federal laws, accrediting bodies, and policies and procedures set forth by Anovo Specialty Pharmacy. The below is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job and is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of essential functions, responsibilities, or requirements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Has oversight of dispensing, pharmacy operations, and pharmacy personnel (technicians, and other pharmacy associates.)
  2. Complies with FDA mandates and self-imposed manufacturer restrictions.
  3. Evaluates medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, route of administration, potential drug interactions, and special high-risk patient considerations, warnings/precautions associated with prescribed medication, potential adverse reactions, and stability.
  4. Suggest therapeutic intervention where appropriate/needed, and ensure availability for consultation to residents, prescribers, nursing staff, and/or designated health care representatives.
  5. Maintains patient/resident medication profile including current and past medications-both prescription and non-prescription, pertinent medical history, clinical/laboratory data, and relevant clinical notes.
  6. Procures and maintains all required documentation in accordance with federal and state regulations as well as 'AnovoRx' policy.
  7. Dispenses pharmaceuticals including biotech drugs and other related items for patients with rare diseases.
  8. Provides drug information, counsels patients, adheres to state/federal licensure requirements/regulations, and maintains required paperwork as directed.
  9. Participates in Continuing Quality/Improvement program and ensures that pharmacies are in compliance with all standards.
  10. When AnovoRx has written agreements with manufacturers for pharmacovigilance services, then as to such services: participates in training as required, receives reporters' call concerning adverse events, product complaints and medical inquiries, completes the submission to the manufacturer and manufacturer designated partners, assists with follow-up as required.
  11. Always maintain patient confidentiality.
  12. Maintains regulatory requirements, including all federal, state, local regulations, and accrediting organization standards.
  13. Wears identification while on duty.
  14. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  15. Regular and reliable attendance expected.
  16. Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Minimum Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Required
  1. Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or Graduate degree from an accredited school of pharmacy and 1+ years of pharmacy experience preferred.
  2. Must possess a current unrestricted license or registration/certification in the required state(s) of practice, as required by law, and must be evidenced.
  3. Must be willing and able to work any dedicated 8-hour AnovoRx shift between the hours of 7am-7pm.
  4. Must be willing and able to work onsite on your regularly scheduled shift Monday-Friday, if applicable.
  5. Must be willing and able to cover on-call rotation as needed.
  6. Must present professionally on the phone and in person.
  7. Must articulate thoughts well and communicate them clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  8. Comfortable with repetitive motions in answering phones and using computer keyboard.
  9. Adept at handling sensitive and confidential situations
