Position Summary
The Surgery Database Analyst provides facilitation coordination and support for nursing computerization within Perioperative Services. Serves as a consultant/liaison for computer projects that involve Surgical Services and Information Management. Provides necessary liaison and interface activities for implementation and ongoing system operations. Serves as the training manager for the implementation, integration and ongoing evolution of clinical information systems for Perioperative Services. Coordinates all aspects of EMR & CPOE for Perioperative Services. Effectively communicates and demonstrates a clear understanding of the Tenet standards, vision and guiding principles.
Responsibilities
  • Facilitates the implementation of SurgiNet and workflow in accordance with Tenet standards
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with physician, clinicians, hospital administrators, ancillary departments and others to ensure the SurgiNet and other clinical initiatives support patient-centered best practices.
  • Facilitates communications among Perioperative Staff to resolve issues and ensure continuity in clinical processes, e.g., downtime events, change management requests, etc.
  • Effectively communicates changes in standard, practice, or functionality to key stakeholders
  • Works with CI director, department managers, clinicians and Perioperative staff to facilitate problem-solving and ongoing communication through the hospital Clinical Process Improvement Committee (CPIC).
  • Provides the CI director `and Perioperative Services with daily reports regarding issues identified during training and competency concerns for Perioperative Services and Staff.
  • Develop and maintain an open and fluid line of communication with Materials Management.
  • Develop and maintain and open and fluid line of communication with ACI resources.
  • Oversees the operations and maintenance of SurgiNet computer software and hardware.
  • Monitors the flow of data to and from SurgiNet across all interfaces
  • Communicates with tech support personnel in order to resolve problems, suggest or anticipate enhancements, and implement new applications and support updates for Perioperative Services Coordinates activities during and when recovering from any related system or interface downtime. Responsible for maintaining an updated backup procedure and in-servicing end users for Perioperative Services.
  • Coordinates activities between Information Services staff, nursing staff, and vendor representatives for Perioperative Services.
  • Maintain communication and acts as a liaison between all shifts and departments in order to ensure smooth operation and continuity of work for Perioperative Services.
  • Provides technical advice and direction to management and staff regarding areas of responsibility for Perioperative Services.
  • Provides in-service education and training for appropriate department staff for Perioperative Services. Maintains knowledge of current trends in the field to enhance expertise for Perioperative Services. Coordinates data collection and system build with facility and ACI & Cerner resources. This position will not be able to change system menus and functions. Monitors usage of all system(s) within Perioperative Services to insure that all are functioning properly and are being used consistently according to guidelines established
  • Consistently communicates with nursing leadership, staff, and others regarding relevant information to support clinical practice in Perioperative Services.
  • Assist in selection of procedure from the MPL and requesting to have new procedures added to the MPL and associated to the site.
  • Building and maintenance of the Item file in close collaboration with Materials Management and utilization of the IMMS interface Import
  • Supervise the building and maintenance of the preference cards.
  • Serve as the Primary trainer for all SurgiNet trainers, super users and end users
  • Computer proficiency testing of all Perioperative Staff
  • Determination of security access required for all Perioperative Staff
  • Ensure that all EID requests are submitted in a timely manner so that all current employees and new employees have proper access to Cerner/SurgiNet.
  • Remains current on advances in the areas of Electronic Health Record and Clinic Informatics; participates in industry informatics forums.
  • Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and the ability to learn new skills and programs.
    • Strong skills in Business Planning and Project Implementation
  • Minimum Requirements
    • Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited nursing school - If Non-RN, degree from a technical school and/or five years experience in Peri-Operative areas
    • Experience: Two to Five years in a Clinical area.
    • Licensure/Certifications: If RN - Must have a current Registered Nurse License to practice in the State of Arizona.
  • Preferred Requirements
    • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
    • Experience:
      • Two years of clinical, healthcare systems implementation, and/or experience in progressively responsible positions.
      • Experience in assisting with the implementation of clinical and ancillary systems.
      • Experience with clinical process automation, standardization, and implementation.
    • Licensure/Certifications:
      • Certification in Informatics
      • BLS
