JOB SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the BI Claims Adjuster Trainee role is to investigate, evaluate, and negotiate bodily injury and uninsured motorist bodily injury claims fairly and timely. Initially, the focus will be on unrepresented claimants. This will include early bodily injury settlements. The BI Claims Adjuster Trainee will have a strong understanding of auto insurance policies, solid time management skills, be detail-oriented and have an interest in learning medical terminology and legal principles as they relate to bodily injury claims.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct thorough investigations into bodily injury claims, including reviewing medical records, police reports, and witness statements.

• Evaluate the extent of injuries and determine liability based on policy coverage, state regulations, and legal precedents.

• Communicate with claimants, medical providers, and other parties to gather necessary information and documentation.

• Analyze medical reports and bills to assess the nature and severity of injuries and determine appropriate compensation.

• Maintain accurate and detailed claim files in accordance with company standards and industry best practices.

• Stay informed about changes in laws, regulations, and industry trends related to bodily injury claims management.

• All demand evaluations are to be reviewed and submitted to your supervisor for authority within 7 calendar days of receipt.

• All demand conditions are to be met at the time our offer is extended in writing.

• All initial offers must be made no later than 5 days before the demand expires.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• A bachelor's degree or comparable insurance experience.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience handling frontline claims.

• Strong knowledge of insurance principles, policies, and procedures.

• An interest in medical terminology, anatomy, and injury assessment.

• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to assess complex issues and negotiate fair settlements.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse parties. Strong negotiation skills.

• Proficiency with our claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn and use other technology used in the position.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• This is a non-exempt position and may require mandatory overtime as deemed appropriate by management.

• This office is that of a highly technical company supporting a paperless environment.

• Travel may be required to nearby Small Claims Court hearings.

• Vision abilities to work at close range and with small print.

• Physical effort requirements include, but may not be limited to, repetitive small motor activity; grasping, ability to sit for an extended period of time; up to 8 hours per day, verbally communicating detailed and important information to others quickly and accurately, stooping, reaching, standing, lifting light objects under 10 pounds frequently and climbing occasionally (small step ladder to reach supplies).
