FLSAJob Summary/Basic FunctionThe Student Climate & Energy Coordinator is a part-time position for a currently enrolled, full-time Weber State University student. This role supports the Sustainability Practices and Research Center (SPARC) and the Weber State Sustainable Solutions Initiative, which aims to help the region strive for carbon neutrality by 2050.
The coordinator will help support the SPARC team's community outreach and engagement efforts that promote climate action, clean energy, and sustainable living practices-particularly within low-income and disadvantaged communities (LIDACs). This includes community event planning and implementation, coordinating workshops, supporting community energy and water saving upgrades, promoting climate-friendly practices, and building partnerships with public, private, and nonprofit organizations. This position will primarily be focused on facilitating local and regional community outreach, helping to achieve statewide goals to reduce emissions. This position may help to develop both print and online outreach materials.
The position will work out of the Weber State Sustainability Home, located in Ogden's East Central Neighborhood (approximately 5-minutes by car or 15 to 20 minutes by bike or bus from the Weber State University's Ogden campus).
Job Duties:
- Events planning and set up, including some evening and weekend events
- Assist with communications and marketing (web/outreach materials/etc.)
- Help to facilitate connections with community partners
- Assist with energy and climate research and education
- Promote climate emissions awareness and reduction strategies
- Supporting logistics for, and co-hosting SPARC Home tours and workshops
- Assist with data collection and reporting to meet Beehive Emissions Reduction Plan grant

Required Qualifications - Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Currently a full-time student at Weber State University
- Interest in sustainability, clean energy and/or sustainable living
Preferred Qualifications - Seeking a degree in sustainability, environmental science/studies, public policy, energy
engineering, education, communication, graphic design or a related field is a bonus
- Ability to work during the summer semester
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (spoken and written)
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse community members and partners
- Experience designing outreach materials in print and/or digital formats is a plus.
- Experience with event planning, outreach, or educational programming is a plus.
