Job description

Position Summary:
The main focus of a Group Leader will be to train operators and complete all documentation and forms as required, and to assist with the supervision and evaluation of department employees.
Responsibilities:
  • Train the operators on work processes and procedures.
  • Complete all documentation required.
  • Ensure paperwork is correct.
  • Ensure quality parts are being produced.
  • Check all labels to be sure they are correct for the job.
  • Ensure work areas are set up to standard.
  • Write performance tickets.
  • Check Manufacturing Process Procedure, Bill of Materials and lay out to be sure these are correct.
  • Request help from other departments when a quality triangle is required.
  • Look for part imperfections and defects.
  • Be vigilant with grease relief efforts; note any grease on parts. Contact process tech.
  • Ensure area lay out is proper and employees have adequate egress.
  • Communicate effectively at shift change; update oncoming personnel adequately.
  • Maintain end-of-job clean up requirements.
  • Use Poka Yoke fixtures when required. Make sure employees use fixture properly and as required. Contact labor assistant supervisor or superintendent with concerns.
  • Be sure all fixtures are working properly. Contact automation with issues.
  • Maintain proper trimming procedures. Ensure safe practices are followed.
  • Ensure pack methods are according to MPP.
  • Keep material control updated on part outages.
  • Maintain proper rates.
  • Stay informed of new technology, methods, and materials for this position.
  • Support and comply with all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping methods at all times.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and a team-player.
  • Ability to learn to use Windows-based and AS400programs for data entry. Basic PC skills a plus.

This is a physically active position in a manufacturing facility. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, or kneel. He or she will be required to talk effectively with others and use active listening skills. He or she may be required to lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds. Vision requirements include ability for close vision so printed reports and computer screens can be read, distance vision, and the ability to focus. Due to fluctuations in production schedules, this employee must be able to work additional hours, including weekends, to meet additional demands and deadlines.
While performing these duties, the employee will spend most of his or her time in a manufacturing facility. However, it may be necessary to enter some office areas to complete various tasks. Typically, offices are climate controlled and have a moderate noise level for an office. Manufacturing areas are subject to seasonal variations in temperature, most notably in summer. Noise level is generally moderate for manufacturing. Safety equipment is required regularly when in manufacturing areas.
The Anticipated Pay Range for This Position: $18.00-$19.50 hourly
