The ICCT is looking for an enthusiasticrecentgraduateor early careerprofessionaltojoin theorganization'sglobal Supply ChainCenterteamas aresearchfellowwith a focus onreducing vehicle production emissionsand scaling up resilient and responsibleelectric vehicle battery supply chains.Within the Fellowship, you will contribute to ICCT's efforts to driveelectrificationbyanalyzingbattery productionand supply chains in Europe and other major vehicle markets globally. Your researchwillincludemappingbatterytechnology trends andcostdrivers,assessingproduction capacities andjob potential,andevaluatingimport dependenciesand trade partnerships.This9 to 12-monthfellowshipwill be based in either our Berlinor Washington D.C. office.

The position is best suited to someone with inventiveness, creativity, resourcefulness, and strong time management skills. The ideal candidate will hold a graduate degree with previous research experience in environment, transportation, energy or battery technology topics, excellent writing skills, some international education, travel or work experience, and demonstrated passion for solving our most pressing global health and environmental challenges.


You Will:

  • Perform high-quality researchonEVpolicies, supplychainsand local-content rules, with afocus in Europe.
  • Collectdata, andperform quantitative analyses of datasetson the future costsanddemandinbatteries andminerals,productioncapacities, and trade flows.
  • Author or co-authorICCT publications such as blogs, briefing papers,memos,working papers,andreports.
  • Review and summarize technical and scientific literature and review the work of colleagues and outside consultants.
  • Supportpresentationsinpublicworkshopsandconferences, as well asregulatory working groups and policymaker briefings.

You Have:

  • B.A.(required),M.S., or Ph.D.(preferred),in engineering,economics,environmental sciences, or relatedfield.Relevantwork or research experienceis a plus.
  • Curiosity andbasicunderstanding ofbattery technologies, material supply chains, industrialpoliciesand global trade dynamics.
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, research, and organizational skills, along with strong written and verbal communication skills and strong emotional intelligence.
  • Strongproficiencywith data manipulation and analysis, usingExcel, Python,Ror similartools; modelling and programming experiencedesired.
  • Englishfluencyis
    required, both written and spoken.

Our Benefits

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), temporary position for 12 months. The position may lead to regular, full-time employment depending on organizational resources and the Fellow's performance. The position will be based in the ICCT's Europe office in Berlin. We offer a competitive gross salary starting at $29.59/ hour, depending on education and experience.
