Communications Specialist - Social Media & Internal Communications Job Description

About Pivot Bio:

Around the world, agriculture is undergoing a profound transformation to meet the challenges of climate change, global food security, and sustainable growth. Pivot Bio is at the forefront of this transition. Recognized by TIME(Best Inventions), Fast Company(Most Innovative Companies, World Changing Ideas), Fortune(Impact 20), MIT Technology Review(Climate Tech to Watch), and CNBC(Disruptor 50), Pivot Bio develops breakthrough crop nutrition technology that helps farmers produce more with less environmental impact.

We are seeking a Communications Specialist to join our Communications, Government Affairs & Sustainability team. This role plays a key part in shaping how Pivot Bio engages with stakeholders across industry, policy, science, and the public. It sits at the intersection of corporate reputation, global sustainability, public policy, and digital storytellingโ€”helping ensure our mission and impact are clearly communicated to audiences ranging from employees to policymakers to global partners.

This is an ideal role for an early-career communications professional (2โ€“3 years of experience) who is energized by variety and complexity, and who enjoys being a โ€œutility playerโ€ across multiple disciplines. The successful candidate will support corporate communications campaigns, digital and social media strategy, internal communications, executive visibility, events, publications, and community engagement. In addition, this role will provide support for sustainability reporting, global impact initiatives, and government relations communications.

The role requires creativity, strategic thinking, strong writing and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to how a leading AgTech company shows up on the global stageโ€”and to help tell the story of a more resilient, sustainable future for agriculture.

  • Community management โ€“ including tracking, monitoring and responding to posts.
  • Draft and schedule social media posts that align with brand voice and communications goals, including working with the marketing team on customer-facing content to ensure alignment.

Internal Communications

  • Responsible for working with the People Team to collaborate on building a strong corporate culture and engagement with the Pivot Bio team.
  • Develop and distribute employee communications, announcements, and internal updates.
  • Responsible for content creation and scheduling of internal meetings, town halls, and other engagement events.

Events & Publications

  • Assist in planning and execution of corporate events, conferences, and community activities.

Media & Monitoring

  • Manage daily news briefings for leadership and team members.
  • Track media coverage, monitor trends, and maintain media mention reports.
  • Support responses to media inquiries and social media engagement.

Community Relations

  • Assist in outreach and communications that strengthen community partnerships.
  • Support local initiatives and activities that highlight the companyโ€™s brand and values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • 2โ€“3 years of professional experience in communications, marketing, or public affairs (internships and agency experience count).
  • Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills.
  • Experience with social media platforms and content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Sprinklr, Hootsuite, or similar).
  • Basic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) a plus.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Positive, canโ€‘do attitude with eagerness to learn and grow in a dynamic communications environment.

Success in Role

  • Timely delivery of engaging content across digital, internal, and external channels.
  • Wellโ€‘executed events and publications that reflect the companyโ€™s brand and culture.
  • Strong support for proactive media tracking, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Increased engagement with employees, community stakeholders, and online audiences.
